Edited: I'm going to leave my original review at the bottom from 6 months ago. Catnapper recliner frame broke in 2 months. I weigh 280 lbs. So not a small guy but I have never broken any piece of furniture from sitting in it in my life, including $30 lawn chairs from Walmart little less a $600 recliner. After a month wait from speaking with Catnapper with no tracking order on replacement parts, I contacted Down East Furniture for help. Van tried helping me. I told him I was very displeased that the chair was broke and couldn't use it for a month. I told him I had my trust in him after he said he would get it resolved. Fast forward to May 25th (4 months later). I had to speak with furniture repair company multiple times about cancelling their scheduled appointment because parts were not sent to do the repair from Catnapper. Multiple calls to Van about keeping him updated about not having parts and me expressing the length of time that had elapsed owning a broken chair without anything happening (4 months) and telling him I was out of patience and going to bring the chairs back. On May 25th, the repair company said they couldn't repair the chair until June 21st. That would have been 5 months with a unusable piece of furniture in my living room. I told Van I was bringing the furniture back to him, and Van wanted to charge a 30% restocking fee (that would have been $360 for the inquiring minds out there - we paid $1280.00 for both chairs). I told him after being without a chair for 4 months that didn't seem fair and he was quick to tell me I was treated very fairly and he had personally put in 50 hours on my situation. Thats over 6 whole days of work according to my math LOL. Van said he was mad because I was threatening him. I said how in the world have I threatened you? He said by telling me your going to bring the chairs back. I told him that's not a threat, that was just doing business. He said "Bring the damn chairs back" and hung up the phone. I called the store back approximately 30 times and nobody would answer. Finally a nice lady answered and said if I returned the furniture the next day I would be 100% refunded and that's what happened after approximately 120 days after the furniture broke. bought two Catnapper recliners from here today. We didn't plan on buying today but the deal was right and probably more importantly, our salesman was very hospitable. We are not from the area and he made us feel right back at home. We love the recliners too. Like sitting on a cloud. They even let my father in law take a nap before we decided to...
Read moreWe have been searching for months for the perfect dining room table. We’ve literally been to about a dozen different stores and found nothing of good quality for the right price. But we found the absolute perfect set at Down East. When we got home and started putting it together, we encountered a couple of issues. When I called them they asked for pictures of our problems and within the hour I got a call back saying we could exchange the problem chair with one on the showroom floor. The other issue with all four chairs they worked on them and fixed two of the chairs and let us exchange the ones they couldn’t fix off the showroom. Honestly just fantastic customer service. This is the kind of place you want to buy furniture from because they are good people. Thank you guys, shout out to Steve and...
Read moreI went to Down East Furniture on Wed 9/28/22. I walked around the store looking. Two workers were talking to each other. Noone ever acknowleged that I was there. In fact, the man at the front desk came up front where I was and turned his back, straightening up the counter. He never spoke and seemed to have had no intention to speak. I was parked in front of the store. I stood still for a minute and watched him as he tried to avoid me. I walked out. When I turned around he was suddenly finished straightening up the counter top and sat down in a chair behind the counter. I WILL NEVER GO BACK THERE!!!. MY Money is as good as anyone else's. You showed me who you are and I...
