This started as a 1 star but after the updates I went to 3 star"âŚâŚ
Our Masonic Lodge ordered 4 boxes of pattie sausage to feed First Responders, we wanted to feed volunteer and paid fire/EMS, Police and Sheriffs office an appreciation breakfast in remembrance of 9/11. When I called to place the order I was quoted $3.99/lb. When I arrived 9/5/23 to pick up my order there was a poster board on the window that said pattie sausage, 8lb or more $3.19. When I questioned the price at the register another lady was called to the front and she told me if they changed the price to $3.19 they would never give our lodge another discount, that all our sausage would be sold at case price (we order our sausage here every time we have our pancake supper fundraisers) You would think if they sold to the general public at $3.19, for bulk, we cold get that price for our First Responders. Didnât have time to order anywhere else so my hands were tied THIS TIME.
Update. 9/13/23 Got a response on my review 4hrs ago and was told to contact Robert at Nahunta and a phone # (see reply). When I called I was told that Robert doesnât work there and hasnât for months đ¤ but I got to speak with Brandon. After a discussion with Brandon I was informed that our lodge would be reimbursed the difference in the price.

We heard about this place at the beginning of the year but never took the drive. Since itâs about to be Thanksgiving, we decided now was the perfect time.
1.25 hours from Raleigh, it made for a quick trip. Like most towns in eastern NC, Iâm a native, the people were friendly; even those who were visitors.
This place was hopping. We kept hearing people say, âthis is the busiest Iâve ever seen itâ. Indeed, it was super busy. 95% of what they sell is pork, thus the name; however, they do have some frozen vegetables and hoop cheese available. Itâs fresh pork, with some cured meats if thatâs your preference. For what they offer and the packaging, the prices are low and well worth it.
If I have one complaint, itâs not on the center, but more-so that we went at the wrong time. Being that we had never been, the crowd just made it hard to fully take in all of what they had. We pretty much got what I think we went for, but Iâm sure we couldâve gotten more. Oh well, sounds like another trip at...
Read moreI love what Nahunta does, itâs hard to do all the things they do. The place is well run and clean. Great selection of hard to find items. I was excited to find some tongues, trotters, and bellies as well as some delicious cracklins. Iâm not, however, impressed with all of their items. The souse isnât very flavorful and has so much stiff cartilage in it the texture is terrible. I love a little chewy cartilage in souse but this feels gritty or like rubber. Try Penderâs c-loaf or souse (sold in Food Lion) or even better go to Wellâs in Burgaw. The âsemi-dryâ sausage I was sold was barely dry at all, it could easily pass as freshly stuffed sausage. Usually semi-dry is at least a little shriveled. You can usually find air dried sausage at Piggly Wiggly but Wellâs in Burgaw is also highly recommended for this. I canât believe a place that sells Tom Thumbs and all other kinds of cured meats doesnât have a great air...
