Goleta pier is a great place to walk out and just enjoy the view of the ocean. If fishing is your thing, you are able to pier fish - this does not require a permit. However, if you do fish you do need to follow the catch regulations for the season. It is very common for people to get tickets for being in possession of fish not in season. Do not fish from the beach without a license. Enjoy your time on this...

Good views, especially for winter sunsets. This is a working pier and lots of people fish from it, so if the sights and smells of fishing bother you, this is probably not the pier for you. If you plan on walking all the way out, make sure you have good shoes. High heels are definitely not recommended!

It’s a nice pier but needs a major upgrade. Wood flooring creaks and moves. The part of the pier where the benches are is closed off and will probably fall during the next storm! Lots of people fishing and poles so you can’t really stand anywhere, but a nice long walk.
