I love hiking, been hiking, and will continue to do so as long as I can but I was disappointed with this one.
About 90% of this hike is with zero views as it only opens up in 5 or so tiny spots (and at the top is beautiful). The hike is very steep almost the entire time, and you are constantly going up or down on either roots, rocks, or mud and leafs (October). It’s even more difficult going down as your chance of slipping and hurting yourself on this trail is very high, and again it’s very steep.
If you have a fear of heights then not going up the fire tower ladder may prevent you from seeing the beautiful views there. And the only way to see the views from the top is only by climbing the fire tower.
I enjoyed the challenge but there are so many other better hikes around here that I would only recommend this to those who have a “check list”.

   Read moreThis was one of the most strenuous hikes I’ve taken in my life, but the reward was one of a kind. We didn’t have crampons (rookie mistake) and took Eyebrow Trail. Safe to say it is covered in ice and a relatively challenging section if you’re not ready.
Steep inclines in specific sections and there is icy spots under packed snow. Many used hiking sticks and snowshoes but we did it in Chinook boots and no spikes.
