We adopted a beautiful puppy from Hood County Animal shelter in July. She was infected/infested with antibiotic resistant Hookworms and Coccidiosis. She had a bowel movement immediately before they released her to us. As soon as we got home wit her, 5 minutes away she pooped huge, live worms. When we took her to the vet the next day we were informed that Hood County was infested with antibiotic resistant worms and coccidiosis. They didn’t even mention the live worms in her stool. Fast forward to having her spayed- The voucher they provided was worthless as they want it done prior to the animal being 6 months old. Not at all what the vet recommends. I have since moved out of town and my dog is scheduled to be spayed next Tuesday, on my dime, which is fine. I received a call today informing me that I will be receiving a citation if I don’t provide them proof of her being spayed, the female officer was being a bully. I planned on providing the documentation as I agreed in the adoption release. Very poorly educated staff and likely a major cause of the antibiotic resistant infestation of worms and coccidiosis in Hood County. No transparency about the condition of the animals...
Read moreSergeant Kelly is a heartlessperson when it comes down to it she has a job to do euthanizing dogs. I have to start out by saying how much I love this place the staff is full of good people. Gave me a sense of purpose working there. They gave me an opportunity in a bad situation. I love animals and the staff I think they love the animals too. How ever they won't call even if you ask them to. If they decide a dog to be euthanized even your dog. Worked here and said I will take my dog and come up with another plan for him somehow if it comes down to it. He was still euthanized i didnt realize it. I was told he became aggressive but hes never been aggressive ever. They euthanized him do to lack of space. One of the volunteers even told me that to be the case. I'd hoped it wasn't true but he was euthanized. I thought they cared more but when it comes down to it they have a job to do. They will lie to your face to try to make it better. Don't kid yourself lying to you if they say they don't have a time limit or won't be euthanized. They literally put my dog down the weekend of my birthday. Update 2-10-2023 still don't forgive or forgotten that they killed...
Read moreI absolutely love Hood County Animal Control! I have done some volunteer work here so I have seen most of the facility. I'm very pleased with how clean and organized the place is kept. All of the employee and volunteer I have had the pleasure of meeting are very knowledgeable and incredibly passionate about what they do. Each and every animal that is brought in or picked up is very well taken care of. This place does the very best to make adoptions happen and to also find rescue facilities for the animals that either have been there awhile, have special needs or are just needing a little extra time to be adoption ready. I recently rescued the latest addition to my family and I couldn't be more satisfied with all of the information I needed and a voucher to get her spayed. I highly recommend this place to anyone who has the time and room to...
