The facility is good. It’s the people that ruin the experience. There are too many people for such a small weight room facility. Elder people will hold machines and have full conversations without even using the machines. Even the younger people, using 3-4 machines at one time-making people wait excessively. I need there to be a rule to resolve this. This isn’t normal.
*UPDATE: Nothing has changed. It’s the same. Not a bulletin, or memo, no advising in person, no action. I think I’ll move my membership
**Update 03-10-25: On the morning of March 9th 2025, during my workout, my car key was taken from the black cubbies in the weight room. It was returned by a couple that found it on the opposite side of the parking lot from where I’m parked. They turned it in thankfully. I discussed the issue with the front desk the day of, and was reassured that a manager would contact me. On the morning of March 10th, 2025, I returned for my workout. Before starting I spoke with a gentleman at the front desk. He was in the middle of telling me what resolutions were happening when an older lady walked up and started having a full conversation with the gentleman I was speaking with. The employee, dropped me immediately, and began to speak with the lady. I waited a few seconds, with no attention from the employee, I threw up my hands and walked away.
I did my workout, checked for my belongings a total of 9 times throughout, and then went to speak with the same gentleman again. I asked him who the lady was and was she having an emergency. He replied “she’s just a member”. I asked why he would drop our conversation about stolen car keys and he replied “I shouldn’t have necessarily done that”.
It’s the lack of customer service, it’s the lack of security and safety, it’s the lack of respect, it’s the lack of pure effort, it’s the lack of empathy.
So I’ll ask again, HOW MUCH MONEY DO I HAVE TO PAY A MONTH TO HAVE A DECENT...
Read moreI’ve lived in Granbury full-time since 2020 and been a member of the Granbury YMCA in Hood County throughout this time. I had hoped that the Granbury Y would be the only facility I need to weight train and play pickle ball. The pickle ball schedule has been reduced substantially and I’ve watched many of my friends leave the Y and join other clubs or play at churches. It doesn’t seem like leadership at the Y wants the Pickleball community. Also, it surprises me that so many Google reviews talk about. how clean the facility is. The men’s room doesn’t meet my standards for clean. There is dust between weight training equipment in the big room. I also think there are many football fans that would love to work out on a Sunday and watch the Cowboys play. i’ve been forced to join another gym for weight training and join Texas hop Pickleball club to meet my needs. I do want to be fair and compliment. Kelly, an amazing yoga, instructor for her friendliness, dedication and expertise. From my view, she’s the one bright shining star. I also suggest website updates don’t happen when they should, and schedules are not printed in time to do planning necessary to help a busy person like myself that works full-time, go to the Y when convenient. We training equipment is often broken and not repaired for weeks. It appears there’s no preventive maintenance on the machine machines. From my view, it all starts...
Read moreI'm personally there for the weight equipment so I'm unfamiliar with how things are regarding other aspects you may be looking for but for the most part, it's not too crowded and equipment and space is available for exercise. Many cardio machines and treadmills, etc. dumbell rack, tricep and back machines, Smith machines, hamstring and quad machines, a single bench press, a few squat racks, and a mirrored wall in the back. Fairly good atmosphere and the people at the front desk are kind. Haven't ever had an issue with them.
3 free day passes are available for new people to get a feel on things. Then afterward it's fairly expensive per month for access to the Y. This is likely because many other things take place here besides the weight room specifically, so I'm sure cheaper memberships exist if that's all you need. I am satisfied so far with my stay although the drive is a bit far for me... Further than even my work.
Anyhow, other things I've explored are the basketball court, which is decent as well, but is often crowded, especially on weekends.
Only thing causing it to not reach 5 stars is the cost, the density of people, and occasionally out of order machines. Outside of that, things are good. Expect not to change things until of course in the event they sell the building, which is something I was...
