Wow! You really can't trust the reviews you see on Google. I'm currently in my sophomore year at Itasca and I'm sad to have to transfer. I have loved my experience and the relationships I have built at ICC.
The professors are always kind and genuinely want to see you succeed. The classes are small enough that you get those one on one relationships that make going to class more personal. You can walk down the halls and the professors know you by name. You feel like they actually care about you, and your education.
The campus grounds are absolutely beautiful. Some of the facilities are a bit outdated, and there are parts of campus that are not well maintained, but that's with every public institution. Taking a stroll on the paths behind the campus is breathtaking. Even with being rural and on the outskirts of Grand Rapids, campus is still close enough you can take advantage of the amenities that town offers.
To the review that said the classes are a joke... You do realize that some of these classes are designed to be courses from which you start; so, if you have had higher level classes in high school, WHY ARE YOU TAKING LOWER LEVEL CLASSES IN COLLEGE? You probably didn't do so hot on your placement exam.
If they never answer the phone, do you bother to leave a message? STOP IN TO THE STUDENT SERVICES OFFICE AND TALK TO SOMEONE. They can't help you if you can't...
Read moreI attended Itasca Community College online in fall 2020. They have some of the best student life activities I've ever seen at a college! Especially with the challenges of the COVID 19 pandemic, it was impressive how many student events they hosted, in a completely safe way. They offered kayaking, get your caricature done via Zoom, build your own snowglobe, online trivia and other games, and more. It was an awesome way to get to know other students and feel connected, despite the online classes being distance learning. My class was designed well, with great attention from the teacher. He always posted feedback quickly and his class instructions were easy to understand. My favorite part has to be how friendly the staff is and how easy it was to apply, get my textbooks, and sign up for class. 10/10...
Read moreICC truly is the best place to start. The staff really does care about your education and problems. Student services is a great place to go to get any question answered or at least point you in the direction of who can help you. They are willing to help with any sort of question without hesitation. They are so welcoming. I seen a review mention that staff/faculty was rude however I have not seen or experienced any curt attitudes. The campus is absolutely beautiful and has many different plant species on the grounds. The agriculture area outside is also something wonderful to see. It’s a small campus so it’s hard to get lost. You see a lot of the same people which makes it a lot easier to meet new people and make...
