Big Four Mountain is so pretty-we went mid-July, and the views were awesome! Many people come here to hike to the Big Four Ice Caves; we did not go to the caves this trip, but I have been before and highly recommend seeing them at least once! Big Four is reached via the Mountain Loop Highway, part of which is primitive. It can be a little dusty and slow-going over the potholes in summer, but the highway is just gorgeous-many beautiful sites to see just from the car, but also several trailheads for those looking to get farther into nature! There are also several beautiful campgrounds and many campsites all long the way here. The full loop of the highway is only open a portion of the year, so check the road status when you plan your trip out here! We love camping last minute and of course always deal with the adventure of finding a spot that’s still available, so we usually turn to dispersed sites. Especially with everything going on as far as social distancing goes. We found many camp sites along this highway! There were also restrooms nearby at the Big Four Ice Caves entrance.
