Mac's Meats — Local services in Grant Township

The decision to drive the long trek from the Thumb was well worth the visit. From the cinnamon rolls and fritters the size of a plate...to interesting sausage flavors, Rueben tater tots and cheese with fresh blueberries, it made for making a flavorful dinner and then enjoying scrummy dessert.

Easy to find, clean parking area and well organized store interior. I liked their allowing only 5 customers in at a time. Many establishments do not abide by the social distancing, and I felt a great comfort in knowing I would not be standing elbow to elbow with others, and took my time in browsing all the items they offered.

We were greeted with a warm welcome and had friendly conversation.

If you are looking for a good day trip, I suggest adding Mac's Meats to your itinerary. Be mindful to perhaps bring a cooler with ice if you plan to buy meats or any other chilled/frozen foods. My husband and I were in the New Era/Rothbury area to pick up some speciay plums and I said to my husband "Remember about 10-15 years ago when we were up here, that place that had the sweet and spicy jerky?". He said "Yeah, Mac's Meats". I said "If we are any where near that place I gotta have that jerky!!!" So we got there and OMG not disappointed...the Sweet Chipotle jerky was as good as I remembered it! WOW! I so wish I had gotten more. My husband got the Barbeque jerky and it was wonderful too! Beautiful meat case and homemade pastries too. If you like jerky with a sweet burn but you can still taste the other spicesl and meat....Mac's Meat is the place! Off the beaten path but well worth the fun of finding it and gobbling up homemade doughnuts with the jerky...or get pork sausage or a beautiful smoked ham....you won't be disappointed!! I love...

BEST, BEST, BEST place to fulfill all your meat needs. Their jerky is delicious and now they have pork belly jerky. Its bacon at its finest. Thick and juicy long pieces of bacon jerky, who could go wrong with that? Ohhh, and their small bakery has nothing close to small when it comes to their baked goodies. Their apple fritters are as big as a plate, a large plate! Their long john's are at least double the size of a normal long john and my boyfriend loves every kind of (huge) cookies they make! And the bakery prices are so cheap for what you get. Their homemade breads and buns are great. Their homemade asiago cheese bread is so good and super moist. Well worth a trip to an out of the way...
