My family and I very much enjoyed McCallums apple orchard overall. There are, however, a few things that added to my decision to give it 4 stars instead of 5. Everything was pretty expensive and they seemed to charge for a lot. For example, they charged for cups after we paid almost 6 dollars for a half gallon of cider. They wanted to charge us to take us back in the orchard to pick our own apples. We are young so we walked but that would just be a nice addition to the experience instead of charging for it. Perhaps specific times for rides might cut down on the cost for them. The apples were good. The trees were trimmed so it was fairly easy access to the trees. Few briars but no big deal. The rows, however, were not easy to get down. We had a stroller and the grass was really high. If it wasn't for the large tires, it wouldn't have been easy to get down the rows. This combined with the apples on the ground made it difficult. One thing that I would encourage the owners to update/change is the signage for the apples. It's difficult to know exactly what you are picking since half the rows have no signage. Upront they have a playground area as well as ponies, chickens, goats, and bunnies, which was nice for the kids. All in all we were happy with our trip. On a side note, it looks like they had a corn maze and were setting up for a haunted hayride and/or zombie ride? It's October so lots of fun stuff to do. Hope this helps. Went back this year (2020-what a year) and they have added a bunch of things. It's all nice, but...., a bit messy. McCallums , my opinion is this. Do several things and do them REALLY well. Do not do ALL THE THINGS but do them mediocre or half way. Oh, and clean up the piles of stuff/clutter everywhere!! (no charge for...
Read moreI went here this weekend (August 2021) and feel the need to write a review because I came here based on the amazing reviews and was extremely disappointed. Mainly there are pretty much no animals… I read one review that said they have feed machines for a quarter. There were no machines and no feed for the goats, chickens, and bunnies which was what animals they had. Pretty disappointing after driving 40 minutes to get there. Their website said there was an event going on… but maybe we got there too early because there was just one other family on the playground and we honesty thought it was closed at first. The most off putting part was the first thing we did was go inside to ask about what all there was to do there and the girl behind the front counter didn’t know! She couldn’t answer any questions we had and didn’t even know if they sold singular donuts. Yes, the donut was seriously amazing, but there are playgrounds closer to our house and without any sort of guidance or assistance we just left. I see they comment back to defend their reviews and are probably nice people with a nice orchard but this was a complete waste of time for my family no matter what their...
Read moreI would just like to say that I love this Cider Mill! I have been there 3 times this year. The first time, I took my kids to get cider and donuts. The staff was friendly and helpful. The second time, I took my 2 boys to the haunted house, (2 friends of there's came too) haunted hayride, and 2 escape rooms. The staff made it a memorable night for their first time. The third time, was just this past Saturday. I took my daughter to see Santa. She was the only one there for a few minutes so she got one on one time with Santa. A very friendly elf cave over and gave her a cookie to decorate and eat. She decorated gingerbread man for the tree as well. And then Ray the owner told her there were bunnies so she was able to hold a couple bunnies in Santa helped. All in all I have never had a bad experience there. It is a family-oriented environment in my opinion. The staff is always friendly and on point. I would highly recommend this place for your...
