I had followed the development of tiny homes for almost 20 years; when Jay Shafer built a 112-square-foot home and traveled with it across the country, introducing what is now called the tiny home movement. Always having lived compact, even in large homes, my gut said that I would be happy with a tiny home. Those years of following the movement and its development completely online, took a fortuitous turn when I returned to my Northeast Alabama high school class reunion. Timbercraft Tiny Homes' website materialized; it was located in an adjoining town. I visited its location, met Doug Schroeder, and walked into my first tiny home. I was "at home." Fast forward four months - over two years into retirement - and the plan was set: Timbercraft would build me a tiny home and I would settle it back near my hometown. Doug responded to my list of "requirements to do this thing" unflinchingly. Family heirlooms were to fill the house with my life and my memories. Doug's first design of that accommodation is the one I am living in now. It is a 273 square foot (28x8.5 foot) cabin-of-a-home, exemplifying the quality of craftsmanship and attention to detail that I think makes Timbercraft an exceptional company to work with. Doug and his fine team built me a home, yes; but more, this home - now that it is settled on three wooded acres backed up by a creek - is a visible and aspirational lifestyle. That is the Timbercraft Tiny Homes difference. Lots of companies can build fine tiny homes; Timbercraft "crafts" a lifestyle.

When I began looking to have a tiny house built, I was referred to Doug Schroeder owner of Timbercraft Tiny Homes. I called Doug without really knowing much about tiny homes and he asked me several questions and listen to my needs. He gave me options of having a house custom built and in our price range. We traveled to Indianapolis last fall to meet Doug in person and view his model home he had built for the roadshow. I was very impressed with the design and craftmanship of the model home. We knew then the model home was perfect for us and started the process of having a home just like it built. Doug personally delivered our house to us in Indiana May 2017. All of our friends and family are in awe of the house and think it beautiful. I can't say enough good things about Timbercraft Tiny Homes. Our experience from start to finish went very smoothly, and Doug was always willing to help me in anyway he could. If you are looking for a tiny house with a lot to offer for the price, please give them a call!

I am very pleased to have take this journey with Doug on creating My Tiny Home. The options were truly limitless. You can show your creativity in many ways. Doug will figure out a way to take your ideas and make them work in his designs. The cabinets are amazing! The craftsmanship is impressive. This house is built for life from the roof to the floors. I am excited to start my journey.

I am going to leave two reviews. This first one is for pre-build customer service and the second will be after my home is built. I am in the design stage of my tiny house with Timbercraft. Every tiny house builder I have reached out to --prior to COVID-19-- have been impossible to reach. They never respond or take months to get back to serious inquiries. When I found Timbercraft and realized they were building tiny homes with everything I was looking for, I was also fearful that my dreams of owning one would be a whirlwind of unresponsiveness, especially now with businesses being affected by the pandemic. But no, even amidst this unprecendented time, Doug and his team are super quick to respond via email and phone. Even prior to putting any money down, I was able to speak to Jamie and Doug on the phone and ask questions and send emails with specific design hopes and dreams. They were super attentive and took time to respond to each of my questions. Once I put the money down to begin the design floorplan process, they were the same level of professional in getting back to me and addressing any of my questions and concerns. I also appreciate their consideration for the Coronavirus and making sure they are taking the proper steps to ensure they can still serve their clients in a professional and attentive way, despite these crazy times! As a person who has lost loved ones to the pandemic, focusing on the future and my homesteading dreams has been a great coping mechanism and Timbercraft has made that dream finally seem tangible. I am so excited to have finally found an amazingly talented builder who is also good with business and customer service. I look forward to working with them as they build...
