MDOT Rest Area — Local services in Grayling Charter Township

This is a nice rest area. Nice picnic area and very well manicured lawn. The women's rest room was closed on one side. The side that was open had several doors that were closed as if they were not functioning. I found out why that was after having used the facilities when the toilet would not flush. Then the soap dispenser would not come on, which wasn't a big deal as the one next to it did as did the water. The hand dryers were another story, as I had to try three and cross to the other side of the restroom before I found one that worked. The restroom was however clean. Definitely in need of some...

Having driven through many parts of the country, I realize just how lucky we are to have the rest areas we do in our state! I would have given anything to find one of these in New York or Pennsylvania on my last drive. Nothing comes even close. Our rest areas, this one included, are modern, clean, have vending areas and brochures as well as dog runs. You could even pull up your vehicle and safely catch a few hours of sleep if needed here which there is no way I would do at other rest area type stops in...

Not a bad spot to stop. Rest to get in and out and there is a dog run area to let your for legged friends out for relief. There grounds are well maintained although the garbage seems to always be following out of the cans anytime we've stopped here. Maybe we just keep coming by between shifts. Pretty sad selection in the vending machines but probably not something most people would go for unless they were desperate.
