Food there is really expensive. I paid $10 for a small fry and when I was asked if I wanted any condiments on top of it it turned it into $20. The fries from the stand weren't very good and the pizza was just okay from the pizza seller. It was like a 3-in-1 shop. I don't know how the other food was because I didn't want to spend more money after I spent that much. When I went, I wanted to go see the monster trucks, the grandstands were so full that they had to start turning people away and there was still a lot of people that wanted to get in. They had a few rides. I didn't get on any of them. They were all right by the looks of them. It's mostly food vendors and vendors inside selling an advertising their companies. They had a magic show which was fun. They had lumberjack competition which was interesting and they have a kids show where the kids get to participate. They had a bunch of farm animals but they were pretty tired out by the time I got there.
I think I expected more with how big of a deal they make it sound like every year. Next time you go, bring your own water and shoot for the free parking and make sure you eat...
Read moreI used to go to the Lake County Fair every year when it was in Grayslake since I was in my teens(I'm now in my late 40's) I have only gone to the new location 3 times and have been more disappointed each time. This year was the worst ever. The local vendors that I used to look forward to seeing are all gone. I always looked forward to the Lion's Club or Sammies for food. It used to be like a "Taste of Lake County". My mom loved the bingo tent. Now with 1 or 2 exceptions, all the food is from travelling commercial vendor trucks. Most of the commercial vendors can be seen at most home improvement expos and there are many more political kiosks. Where is the old County Fair with local vendors and food? Are we not proud of our County anymore, so much so that we have to get people from outside? Also, the layout of the fair leaves something to be desired. There is gravel by the games and children's rides that is difficult just to walk through without twisting an ankle. I could not imagine trying to push a stroller through it. Will probably never go again. The McHenry County Fair will be...
Read moreNEVER EVER aagain!! Hadn’t been to the LC fair in over 30 years and wanted to check out the demo Derby. It was awful even for a new place. Over 45 minutes to park, traffic backed up for over a mile and we were early. There was plenty of parking available! $30 for 2 people, bathroom lines, crowed animal spaces not enough room to walk, Derby sitting was overpacked that we decided to leave after only being at the fair for an hour and 20 mins. Also very disappointed in LCSD, my man accidentally brought in his pocket knife that his father gave him years ago, he asked if he could leave it and the officer said yes since we were parked a mile away. He asked again if this was okay. Upon our return, the officer who said this was there, but another said he was in charge of him and that they threw it out! Seriously! We should of just brought it back to the car but we thought they were being upfront. Never again!! Turn around, waste of time and money! Very Disappointed in LCSD too! I get safety and such...
