I had belonged to Staying Alive health club for many years. It was always clean. There were trainers upstairs where cardio and free weights were set up.
They were always available for help. Never did they approach anyone to sell training sessions. They also would use wipes to clean equipment, even though there was a cleaning person on staff. There room for classes was always clean. The classes were great, instructors were great and if one could not make it in, they always had a substitute. No matter what the class was, each instructor called out each step as she conducted the class. And, classes started at 8am,till last class at 11am, then classes resumed at 4pm till last class at 8pm, 5 days a week. Weekend classes , there were about 3 or 4. Every instructor was good, patient and informative. No matter who was at front desk, they were always nice and helpful. Bathroom was spotless, always! It was such a pleasure to belong to this club. THEN, after years, they closed. Memberships were transferred to L.A. fitness. What a disappointment. Equipment was dirty, many cardio equipment broken and stayed that way for months. Not that many classes and if instructor could not make it, class was canceled, no substitute and no sign on door. A bunch of people standing around waiting for instructor until somebody found manager to ask. After that I'd call to find out if instructor was coming in, answer was always yes, but not always true. Place was dirty and bathrooms the same.
I got disgusted and canceled my membership at front desk. A month later, got billed after I canceled shortly after my last payment. I quickly typed up a letter to corporate to cancel. Sent it certified, signature required, That worked.
So now, 2022, I thought I'd join again, thinking management has changed and things improved . Saw on website they renovating, but that has nothing to do with how it is managed. First thing I did was look at reviews. Members at this lantana location had mostly bad reviews over the recent 5 months. So disappointing to read nothing has changed, still same as when I belonged years ago. The positive reviews were members that complimented some of the trainers.
When i was initially taken on a tour, it was fast and some things I didn't notice, like broken equipment, did notice it was a bit dirty but assumed cleaning crew came in at night, and classes, didn't know there was a problem.
Don't understand why these problems can't be Fixed.
Staying Alive and Balleys, (both Bally's locations) were above board!
That would ask if you needed help, they even use there time to use sanitizing wipes to clean the equipment. Usually 2 always there. They never bothered anyone to...
Read moreWalker into this location and said Hi, ... Keep in mind I am in full business attire upon entry. Two other members in gym workout clothes walked in after me and scan their card. There was a young lady at the desk staring into a monitor.. a gentleman walked up next to her and started looking through a magazine as if he was shopping.
They then proceed to converse with one another. I continue to stand there staring at them and into the space behind them. After at least 5 minutes the young lady looks up at me and says "do you need something?"... I said yes I'd like to be helped. The guy then says, "helped with what exactly?" He then says did you scan your card when members walk in they just scan their cards. I proceed to say yes when you're a member currently I'm just waiting to be acknowledged. She then says, oh, you're not a member with a blank stare.
Apparently, the guy that was at the desk must have been one of their salespeople. She tells him, this could be your sale. He proceeds to look at her and says call Austin. She said but you need a sale he said, no give it to Austin.
I then walk away and Say never mind. As I'm walking away, Austin comes out. At this point I'm disgusted. He says how can I help you, I said I will call you. I leave the gym immediately and called him. The same young lady that was at the desk answered the phone. I asked to speak to Austin whom they stated was the manager... she said he's busy on a call he will call me back. Yes, I'm sure they have caller ID but, she never asked me for a call back number. Now it is clear why this location has such a low rating.
Despite the fact that this location is closer to my home I'd rather drive elsewhere then to have to deal with such carefree, lackadaisical, Zero Customer...
Read moreHorrible place. Within 1 week of signing up I canceled my membership. Staff is unbelievably rude. After exchanging words with a staff member I requested to speak with his manager about his attitude and how disrespectful he was towards me about my mask. I have my mask on my face as required just not covering my mouth and nose. I have quarter size masses on my lungs (Medical condition) which is why I'm even in the gym. They never walk around to enforce any rules. You cant find weights. No one wipes down after themselves. I felt singled out. I was told the Manager (Kim) would be in at 8am. At 8:10am after killing 3 hours at the gym I went to ask where she was while another member was having issues with how rude the staff member was speaking to him. I requested for Kim to call me. 2 days later Kim contacted me where i was accused for being combative hostile and being disrespectful to several staff members when I had spoke to one individual. I tried telling her this was a lie and I requested there video and audio footage and I was told they're a private company so they dont have any. I asked to speak with someone above her because she wouldn't listen to reason like the staff member where I spoke with the district manager which just so happened to be there. Spoke with him briefly where he offered to refund my money and send me on my way. I have never been treated so poorly and pushed out of somewhere in any situation before. I can go on with my 1 week experience. Just horrible being treated so badly! Very toxic place.
Staff members name I...
