The facility is terrible. No a/c for the dogs in the kennels! Most of the small/purebred dogs are pulled by TriCounty Animal Rescue - so there are basically only big dogs available for adoption! I have tried to get PBCAC&C to help me with catching free roaming community cats (I have personally trapped, spayed/neutered, vaccinated & retired about 20 cats in my neighborhood & I feed them daily and have not seen any kittens in several months (some of the cats in the colony are at least 15 years old - healthy & content) - but if I have called Animal Control for assistance with cats that are ill & need to be trapped (and humanely euthanized) - they refuse to help - wouldn’t even help to trap a cat that had ran into my house - was hissing at me & looked ill - and I had to contact someone who rescues cats to help with this cat - who was sick & who I had to take to Peggy Adams Animal Rescue to have the poor cat put to sleep! I am disabled and I do not drive - but do my best to take care of the cat colony (along with 2 neighbors)! One of the cats is about 20 years old. Most are not afraid of me - but some are truly feral and I cannot risk being scratched or bit by a sick cat - but the Animal Control officers will not help. I’ve also tried to get them to help with several dogs in my neighborhood who run loose - scare the cats & eat the cat food (and growl at me and my dogs) - have given Animal Control the address where the dogs live & nothing was done! These were big dogs & could have been dangerous & they could have been injured by cars! I’ve dealt with PBCAC&C since I moved to Florida in 1978 (always getting my dogs vaccinated and licensed) - but when my 12 year old rescued Bichon was viciously attacked by a neighbors dog - Animal Control made me quarantine my dog (house arrest) because the neighbor said my dog bit him (his dog bit him & then he removed the dog from his property & I couldn’t find out if the dog had been vaccinated)! I had to watch my old girl (who had never growled or shown any aggression and who needed to be rushed to the ER vet and was in surgery all night and had a head full of stitches and drains in both ears - it was awful to see a sweet Bichon Frise suffering - but she never complained & thankfully recovered - and still she was happy to meet every dog and every person)! Palm Beach County Animal Care & Control neither cares nor controls the animals in Palm Beach County! They only care about making money by adopting out dogs & cats - or by finding innocent residents of Palm Beach County who truly want to help the stray animals who live on the streets! This facility should be closed!! They are a kill shelter & routinely euthanize domesticated...
Read moreI have adopted a few dogs from them. In the passed 10 yrs. one all black German Shepherd Named tucker he pass away at the age of 11 since I got him he was already old I got another dog forgot his name they said he was in good health and good to go had him for 2 weeks I went to see a friend in Loxahatchee he got out of her house. They took him to ACC and said he’s heart worm positive and that I need to pay for the boarding and a heartworm treatment I didn’t have money but they told me he was in good standing health they lied. I got another dog there her name is Brooklyn she was 7 she passed away at the age of 12 so I tried my luck at Peggy Adams German Shepard his name was mark I had only had him for a week when I noticed there was something wrong I took him to Peggy Adams dropped dead at their front door. Peggy Adams Lies about the health and the dogs criteria needless to say I went to ACC and try to adopt another dog I did all the paperwork show them all the proof they needed I adopted a German Shepherd there five months ago they were reluctant to adopt him out to me but gave him to me anyway I also have another male dog that my husband had since he was eight weeks old he is now 11 from Second Chance puppies I bought Sage which was a German Shepherd puppy 12 month old she ran away and I told them that she ran away and I did not have her anymore I paid the full extent of the tags of an unneutered female and shots and rabies and went through hell and back just to get this dog out of ACC that I currently own from ACC his name is diesel after my dog Sage ran away for a few months somebody must’ve picked her up and took her they denied me from adopting another dog FROM ACC ever again I never got Sage from them I got her from a breeder and paid $2700 I found an American puppy bulldog at ACC 10 Months old absolutely fell in love with him and they denied me because my dog Sage ran away and I no longer have her so they put me on I do not adopt list While they are there killing dogs left and right for no reason at all I will never spend another dime supporting ACC I was very upset and mad and the person on the phone that I had spoke with said she gave the command for me to never adopt again this is why you don’t adopt from people like this same thing as...
Read moreI’m visiting my parents in Fl for 2weeks then traveling back home, I thought it would be a nice thing to adopt a shelter pet from Fl because the shelters are so over crowded down here. They wouldn’t allow us to adopt a dog because my parents have animals and they needed veterinary proof that MY PARENTS dogs and cats were up to date on everything, which they are but my parents did not understand why they have to see THEIR pets medical records for MY dog that wouldn’t even be living in the same state as my parents because I’m leaving in 1week, on top of it the vet wanted 25$ to mail all their records to my parents home, which they did not want to pay because they know their pets are up to date on everything and the money would not even be going toward an animal they are adopting. I repeatedly told the staff at the shelter they are not my animals and I do not have any control nor authority over them, they are MY PARENTS! I told them I don’t live with my parents I live in a different state I am only visiting and they told me it doesn’t matter because I’m staying with my parents, I used my parents address because we are currently in the middle of moving homes up North and haven’t decided between 2 homes so I did not want to put an addess that would not be valid, but then to top it off they look up my parents address and proceed to tell me no one lives at my parents address??? When I bought proof that they live there? I am just genuinely confused and saddened as I picked out a dog I would’ve loved to give a loving home to. This shelter is full of dogs not a single cage available to help out another dog that truly needs a shelter all because these people tried to tell me my parents don’t live at their home and that I can’t adopt a dog because they want information about dogs that are not mine, when I am leaving in a week! I truly feel so sorry for the animals here, they are well taken care of by the staff in the back but the chances of them getting adopted are slim to none because the staff up front gets to decide if you actually live in your home or not, and want information about animals that you don’t own?! the staff in the back was terrific and helpful but the staff upfront was just...
