This was a neglected skeleton of what I'm sure this has been in the past. The clubhouse was dim and dark, not lending to a very welcoming environment. The golf carts are old and outdated, suspensions are hard to drive with brakes that don't stop quickly and aren't supportive of all the bumps and imperfections in their cart paths, fairways and other pathways. The course itself, goodness it looked like it hasn't had proper maintenance in years. The bunkers were terrible, weeds growing and rocks bigger than your golfball all over the place...we couldn't play out of them because we would probably damage the club head with all those rocks. The fairways and greens were lackluster, needing much leveling and TLC to get back to a proper usable status. Tee boxes were useless, barely level in most and not growing the grass back in many instances leaving a bate service to be used. I would not recommend playing here, get updated and maintained and when this place has the work put in I bet it'll be a great track. Till then, find somewhere...
Read moreI played it 17JUL23. Had not played it for several years after playing it several times 10-15 years ago. Had read reviews it has been neglected of late, and called ahead and asked about reviews saying as much. Lady says "those are old reviews, come on out, you'll enjoy it." Well, the reviews are accurate. Blackshire is not the premium northern Michigan golf experience it could be and should be! It's still beautiful and challenging and well designed, just not in the condition it should be. And in this condition, at $35 for 9 holes on a weekday afternoon, it's not a good value. Arthur Hills design Red Hawk near Tawas, not far away, is the same price and is a truly great northern Michigan golf experience. The lady was right about enjoying it, even though it bothered me to see it in decline. What's up with this Lakewood Shores? And what's up with having one price for locals and another price for those who...

It deserves zero stars. One guy runs the pro shop and the cart shed. No food or even cups for a drink. Oh wait, There were pre made wraps 1 week old. 3 carts broke down in...
