Today we had to do the unthinkable and call to surrender our dogs. This animal shelter has the most inconsiderate and disgraceful employees managing the process. An employee attempted to work with us for a drop off time. Offering to potentially have someone stay 15 minutes late to make it possible. While attempting to come to a workable drop off time, the first employee was very accommodating and understanding at first. Then put us on hold. The manager then picked up the phone. The first thing out of her mouth was "I hear you are being difficult". She then proceeded to berate and accuse us of lying. Telling us that closing was closing and how dare we ask for anything different. We explained that it was not requested by us, but first offered by her employee. Said employee then lied about offering the potential later pick up time. The manager was incredibly rude throughout the entire conversation. Surrending animals is never easy. And something that I used to view as never acceptable. This decision was not made easily. To have individuals working at a place that requires compassion and understanding, that exude neither of those things is disturbing. We will now be going through another animal shelter. I know that many of you are much like us, devestated that you are in the situation that you are. I urge you to stay away from this shelter. If they cannot treat the process with compassion, I am confident that they also will not be treating the...
Read moreThe director of the animal shelter told me not to come back...she thought I was mistreating the dogs when I was only doing as I was told...sure I brought my own dog to socialize with the people up front since I saw another co workers dog up there so I thought we all could. Also there's a training area for the dogs to play in so I'd bring some of the general public dogs (dogs looking to be adopted) there to play like I was told at my dog walking orientation apparently it's for the iso dogs (dogs who haven't been put in the general public yet) and special volunteers...according to the director, Connie. So because of those 2 things I got kicked off the volunteer list... but it was fun while it lasted...they're not nice to their volunteers and I'm going to suggest another shelter for my family to look at for my...
Read moreI had a feral cat on my property that had kittens close to winter. I slowly coaxed the kittens out with food one by one so l could bring them here to hopefully find good homes.
The people here were kind of rude for just dropping off kittens. The lady even tried to suggest they were my kittens already since I fed them (how else was I supposed to get scared kittens to come to me). The woman at the front desk kept trying to insult me by hinting these were my personal kittens that I decided I couldn't care for. Here's the spoiler- I am horrifically allergic to cats, I get close to asthmatic reactions with them long enough so they were definitely not my personal pets. I didn't deserve to be treated like I was doing something wrong for trying to make sure stray kittens...
