I am not one to write google reviews often especially negative ones but my terrible experience with Kevin Powell has been one that needs to be documented for others to see.
To sum up my experience with Kevin Powell Motorsports: Incompetent service team putting the improper parts on a bike from the start, created problems on a bike that had no problems prior to dropping off, will not own up to their mistakes when they created issues with my bike, lied to me about test riding the bike when they clearly didn't. STAY AWAY FROM THESE GUYS.
Let me preface by saying my bike was in great condition, no issues whatsoever and under 10k miles for a 2018.
I took my HD street glide in for a simple inspection, oil change and brake pad change on May 11th and on my ride home, my brakes sounded awful (grinding and moaning) and I noticed an oil leak coming from underneath an hour after letting it sit so I took it right back for them to look at it. I spoke to Gabe who said that the brakes need to wear in and the oil is just residual from the oil change and to go on my way and ride it. I put about 75 miles on the bike per their instruction and still the brakes sound awful and the bike continues to leak oil. I called them and said there were still issues and they said to bring it back so I did the following weekend 5/18.
They told me that they "accidently" put on organic brake pads and that they were the wrong kind so they changed them out to the "correct ones". They still told me the oil leak was nothing they could find and that they did nothing wrong. Dissatisfied, I went home again and I STILL had the same issues with the brakes and oil leaking.
Once again, I called back and said that this is the third time I have come back and nothing had been fixed. At this point, Gabe and the service staff seemed to think I was in the wrong about issues with the bike since it was a "simple" maintenance job to which is was, however, done incorrectly. They kept telling me that they did not see anything wrong with the bike and kept test riding it and not hearing any noise from the brakes nor seeing any oil leaking.
Friday 5/31 I took the bike back (4th time taking it back) and I said it needs to be thoroughly looked at to find the root of these issues I've been having because it's just flat out unacceptable. One week goes by and I call and they say they have not gotten to it since they only have one tech working. Obviously pretty dissatisfied with the lack of communication but understanding of the situation, I said okay just please keep me posted. Another week goes by and I've heard nothing so I call back (Friday 6/7) and I spoke to Gabe who said that they "test rode" the bike all week and found no issue with the brakes and could not find an oil leak and it was ready for pickup... So nothing was done to it for two weeks and I never even got a call about it.
At this point, extremely frustrated, I decided I was just going to pick the bike up and take it to an actual dealer to diagnose the issues Kevin Powell created and I will present the paperwork later to ask for a refund. The part that upset me the most was that I did not even get a call back and then when I went to pick up my bike I looked at the odometer and it had the exact mileage that I dropped it off 2 weeks prior with. THEY DID NOT EVEN RIDE THE BIKE after telling me they test rode it all week. Liars don't sit...

So I dropped off my motorcycle on Tuesday 11/10/15 at approximately 11:50. I was told that there were multiple bikes in front of mine and that they wouldn't be able to get to mine before the day was over on Tuesday, as they closed at 6pm. I figured they may have been busy and extremely overloaded, so I was ok with that and dropped my motorcycle off.
So Wednesday rolls around and I called back to the service department at approximately 12PM just to check the status of my bike. I was told once again that I STILL had "one" bike ahead of mine. It was at this moment when I started to get a little frustrated because my bike was there all day Tuesday, and now ALL day Wednesday. Through conversation with the service department, during that dialog I was told that my parts would not be in until Thursday 11/12/15, but I would get a phone call later today, Wednesday, once the mechanic got to my bike. So 6PM rolls around and I never received a phone call.
So today, which is Thursday 11/12/15, I allowed a few hours to pass by. It gets to 12:15pm and I still don't hear anything, so I decided to go down to the shop to get an understanding of what was really going on. When I arrived the service department rep told me that they were waiting on some parts still and that they probably won't be in until Friday, and if not Friday, Tuesday of the upcoming week. He also stated that labor wouldn't start until all parts arrived. For one, how will you know completely what to order without looking at the bike first? I dropped my bike off on Tuesday, why does it take that long for one part to come in? Doesn't make any sense! I also overheard the mechanic and the service dept. rep conversing, and the mechanic stated that he hadn't even touched my bike yet. So for the last few days my motorcycle has just been sitting there! So I ask the service dept. rep to call me once the parts arrived and I left. After conversing with my wife and another mechanic, I decided to go back inside kevin powell and take my bike back.
I brought my motorcycle to SRS Motorsports here in Greensboro, NC and they had the part that I needed in stock, and if it wasn't in stock they could've had that part in tomorrow with no problem what so ever. So why was it taking so long for Kevin Powell if I dropped the bike off days ago? Not only did SRS Motorsports have my part, they installed my part and I was out of the door within 45 minutes! The most confusing thing to me is, SRS Motorsports has "1" mechanic!!!
I was very disappointed and unsatisfied with the customer service with Kevin Powell Motorsports! Unfortunately I will no longer use you all for my service needs any longer. It didn't feel like I was a customer being...
Read moreMy husband was looking for a specific motorcycle, after days of looking for one locally, we found one listed at Kevin Powell Motorsports in Greensboro. I called twice on July 3rd and confirmed that they indeed had the bike and told the woman that we would be in on Saturday to purchase the bike, she said "I would try to come before then because we are running 4th of July specials." I told her we would see what we could do but we lived 3 hours away. After discussing with my husband what she had said we decided to drive the 3 hours to Greensboro on July 4th to get the bike, I called once more that day and once again, CONFIRMED that Kevin Powell of Greensboro had the bike we wanted. On July 4th, we called once they opened and CONFIRMED again that they had THE SPECIFIC BIKE WE WERE LOOKING FOR, they SAID YES, we told them we were driving from Wilmington (3 hours away) and that we would see them in 3 hours, she said “Great, ask for Brandon when you get here.” We rented a truck to bring the bike back due to our insurance agency being closed on the 4th and drove the 3 hours to get the bike. We arrived to KPoG at 1pm, we did not see the bike, finally we told someone what we were there for and he said let me look, he came back and said that the bike wasn't there. I told him that we had confirmed the bike was there 3 hours ago, he went back to the desk, he came back and said that their "list" did not get updated when someone walks out the door with a bike, due to how the financing side of the purchase worked the list did not update and neither does online, even though we had called MULTIPLE TIMES & CONFIRMED THE BIKE WAS THERE, we also made the person on the phone aware that we were driving a great distance to get this specific bike, the table where the phones are answered is 15 ft away from the table, so you are telling me no one looked to their left once to see that the specific bike we were coming for was there. The unapologetic manner, "oops, we can sell you this though", and the fact that the man began dancing to the music while we were clearly upset at the amount of money we had just lost in renting a truck big enough to haul the bike ($100), the fuel to get there ($150), and the time we took to get there and back plus meals cost us $500, was just awful. Do not buy from them, do not invest time to buy from them, I definitely would not drive a great distance to...
