I'm really liking this place. They do use contracts so if you're in a situation where finances may be iffy in the future you may want to look elsewhere. Billing is monthly, but you're still locked in for the duration of your contract - pretty standard for many gyms as annoying as it is - even Planet Fitness uses contracts these days for upper level members.
It's a smaller gym but I've honestly only had one or two encounters where I had to work around or with another person to use a machine. The trainers are also good about making sure they don't monopolize machines (again, everybody, including you, works together) and it's really not a big deal at all. I love that some cardio equipment comes with the TV screens built on. I get really bored doing cardio so this way I can "watch" something with subtitles and listen to music at the same time! This was actually a huge selling point when I toured the facility.
Staff is friendly and some of them do make a genuine effort to learn your name, even if all you do is say "hello" on occasion. Some staff members do come across as a bit lax and not necessarily professional, but no one is rude.
Some downsides: It could be cleaner. The floor and the equipment is generally clean but if you look at the walls or the air intakes/grates...covered in dust in some places. The women's bathroom, for example, hasn't had the air intake cleaned in possibly a year or longer; it's positively caked in dust.
I really wish the women's bathroom had changing stalls and something other than glass doors for the showers. The bathroom stalls are used as changing stalls right now and the handicapped shower (which doesn't have a door but is located around a corner and affords the most privacy) is the most used shower. Some people are perfectly fine getting changed out in the open/showering in the open. From what I've seen, however, not many women members at least, are so comfortable. The bathroom stalls being used for changing purposes is the most annoying thing between the two. If you go during peak traffic, you might not be able to use the restroom because people will be...
Read moreI have been a member at this gym for seven months now and when I signed up for a membership I was under the impression that I had the monthly plan, cause I wasn't for sure if I would be able to afford it in the future. When I went to cancel the membership they told me that I was locked into a contract for a year. Another thing is that the gym charges a maintenance fee that I prepaid in advance and they keep charging my bank account even after I called them the first time it happened. Now, it's the second time it has happened and I have called to talk to the billing manager but they won't return my phone calls. The first time the mistake happened I understood but the second time it shows me that you don't care. It's up to you to join this gym but Greenville has better...
