ETA: I see that someone from the facility has replied, essentially blaming my husband for this mishap. Let me be clear, he never requested the slip leash to be removed. He was never asked to come to the back or made aware there was an issue with his collar until they brought Loki out. The woman removed the slip leash on her own accord. I don’t appreciate the lack of accountability and the accusation that has been made. Please don’t try to push blame onto your customer. Thank you for making it clear we made the right choice to not return to your facility.

We had been using Dogtopia of Greenwood for daycare for our two Siberian huskies, but after a recent experience, we will not be returning.

On June 30, one of our dogs, Loki, was brought out to my husband without his specialized collar. This collar is necessary because he pulls and can easily slip out of regular ones. Dogtopia was fully aware of this. We had used the same collar for every visit, and not once did anyone tell us it was not allowed. Despite this, the shift lead chose to use a slip leash and removed it before my husband had a chance to secure Loki. In that careless moment, he pushed through the front door and escaped. He ran toward a nearby cemetery, and we were lucky to catch him before something awful happened.

This entire situation was completely avoidable. We have used other daycare providers and have never experienced anything like this. It is clear that Dogtopia of Greenwood does not properly train their staff or follow even basic safety protocols. Unleashing a dog in the lobby near an unsecured exit is simply unacceptable.

We are incredibly grateful that Loki is safe, but that outcome was purely due to luck. It had nothing to do with the attentiveness or competence of the staff. I would strongly encourage other pet owners to consider this experience before entrusting Dogtopia with the care of...

Dogtopia of Greenwood has completely transformed my dog—in the best possible way!

Before we started daycare here, my pup was shy, anxious, and didn’t have many opportunities to socialize. I was nervous about leaving her anywhere, but from our very first visit, the team made us both feel welcomed and supported. They took the time to learn her personality, ease her in, and give her the love and encouragement she needed.

Now? She’s a totally different dog. She’s more confident, social, and comes home every day with the happiest little tail wags and the best kind of tired. I’ve seen her grow not just in energy but in spirit. It’s been such a joy watching her excitement when we pull into the parking lot—she can’t wait to go inside!

The staff is truly incredible—kind, patient, and so clearly passionate about what they do. The facility is clean, safe, and full of happy pups. I love being able to check in on her with the webcams and knowing she’s in great hands.

I cannot say enough encouraging words about Dogtopia of Greenwood. Even though it is 30 mins out of my way to drop Mia off, it is absolutely worth it every single time! The moment we pull into the parking lot, her tail starts wagging nonstop and she can’t get through the doors fast enough. We always joke that she’d make the perfect commercial for Dogtopia because of how excited she is to be there!

The staff is warm, welcoming, and always greets Mia by name. Their genuine care and attention make such a difference. I’ve never had a single issue with the team or the facility. Every visit is a positive experience. Mia comes home tired and happy from her adventures, which has made Dogtopia an essential part of our weekly routine.

We have also taken advantage of their grooming services, and I can confidently say I will never take her anywhere else. (I had a horrible experience with a different facility).
