I played early this morning with an early tee time of 7:20 as a single. Although the course was nice, they seemed to be averse to anyone who wants to play fast. As a low handicap single golfer, I easily play 18 holes in 2 hours or less with a cart and as long as no one is in front of me. The two 3-somes in front of me let me play through with no issues. But the next guy was a single who volunteered to let me ply through, but then proceeded to hassle me because he said if I played too fast i would run into the mowers and he did not seem to be happy about that. (Not sure why he would care). Then a ranger came up to me and thought I had to be skipping holes because he could not believe I could possibly play that fast. His attitude was also off-putting. And by the way, there were sprinklers going on every green for entire front 9 - even for the threesomes who were not playing fast. But he did say to go ahead and even directed me to the proper 9. On the second nine, every single flag was out on the ground so I had no way to know distances to the flag or even a target. Yet i did not see any maint. guys except on the third hole. When I was done in just under two hours, I told the cart guys my story, they said the pro shop guys would make it right. Rather than make it right, they proceeded to make a bunch of excuses and told me that anyone who played that fast would always run into problems. When I told them I did this several times a week at not home course, they looked at me like I was lying. When I told them they could at least leave the pins in on holes that were not being maintained, they looked at me like I was the idiot. I told them I loved the course and wanted to come back this week and it would be nice if they gave me a free 9 just to let me play the nine I played with actual flags in. They refused and did not offer anything to "make it right". Needless to say, I will not be back and they will be out the $800 they would have charged me for my 4-some that I was going to bring. Very foolish customer service. That "free-9" would have cost them nothing but maintained goodwill with me. What a...
Read moreUpdate 11/17/2015-- I wanted to update my post to reflect the Positive Experience I have had since since Management focused on the problem. The feedback I am getting is that the Honours Corporate HR has been involved and that while the employee was not terminated, a corrective action plan is in place to insure that Peninsula is the safe and enjoyable golf course that it is intended to be. In addition, the General Manager at Peninsula has provided a complimentary round for my entire group of 20. Our plan is to play Peninsula as part of our annual golf event in 2016. I am Satisfied with the way that Peninsula has addressed the issue.
Original Post- I was cursed out and threatened by a Turf Management employee on a mower during my morning round at Peninsula on Friday October 31st, 2015. The General Manager there is aware of the issue but did not deal with the situation to my satisfaction. In fact, I think I was intentionally mislead as to the actions he took in order to mollify me. That is also unacceptable. The employee did not follow Standard Protocol in managing his machine(did not turn it off so he could hear approaching golfers) and then Cursed me out ..to Quote “FUXX You AXXHOLE, YELL FOUR…(which I did but he could not hear) after I accidentally hit the mower (not him) with my second shot on a par five. When I approached him to express my concern with his behavior.. He then stated a couple times..to Quote… "IF I GET OFF THIS MOWER, I AM GOING to FUXX YOU UP SOO BAD”… After a heated conversation he then drove off recklessly almost rolling over me with the machine.
This event ruined my round and had a direct effect on the round of those with me and the results of my entire group. (20 paying customers)
At a minimum they should have comped our round or offered us a replay. Not sure what kind of employee background checks are performed at Honours Golf but I would keep an eye out for...
Read morethe most disappointed WE all have ever had at a golf. There were 6 of us, all from Ohio. It was a stormy day with a lot of lightning but we decided to try to play through it!! Got to hole 13 and it got really bad out, there was a tornado warning issued and up to 3 inches of rain fell. We decided to head back to clubhouse in a driving rain storm. The course was under water. We were hoping to get a rain check for 9 holes the next day or maybe even the day after. We each paid $152.00 to play the course. WE all purchased refreshments(6 pack of beverage was $27, lol) and also had lunch after we got back to the clubhouse (we were basically the only ones there), that's another $30...so we basically all spent $200 at this course. Went to the pro shop to get a rain check and they offered us a 6 hole rain check and we had to pay for another 3 holes!!!!! we could not believe it!!! We shouldnt have been on the course at all that day, but it was booked for that day, and being from Ohio we did our best to try to make it happen. so knowing we couldnt come back they gave us all $50 certificate that we had to use in their clubhouse!!!!! We were there to golf, not shop!!! between the 6 of use we spent $1200 at this course!!!!! and they couldnt give us 3 holes????? Everyone there was rude. We will never play this course again and we ALL will pass the word on about Peninsula golf club....i give it a...
