No words to say about the skyway fishing pier.
We visited so many fishing piers. You have to park vehicle somewhere and walk to the pier for fishing.
But in skyway pier you drive and park where you want to fishing. So many spots available for park and do Fishing.
Bait shops are open for 24 hours. Restroom are available.
This pier is not free You have to pay $4 per vehicle and for each person $4 .
Valid for 24 hours. You can leave the pier any number of Times to utilize a 24 hour vald pass.
You can use the same pass both in south and north pier.
South Pier is longer than North Pier. During weekends north pier will be filled between 7 pm to 10 pm. So plan accordingly.
If the any one of the pier is filled then you can move to other pier ( south mostly N number of parking and fishing spots will be available on any day)
After Sunset you can catch Crab and jumbo shrimp as well during high to low tide times.
North Pier is good for Catch Crab.
Here fishes are too smart, so don't get disappointed if you didn't get fish on few visits.
So many regular angulars caught very big fishes.
Family, kids friendly place. Excellent place to spend more time with family...
Read moreGreat place to fish since you can ride onto the pier and park where you fish instead of other places where you have to haul all your fishing stuff a 100 yards to get to where you fish. They have a bait shop open 24/7 that you can buy tackle and bait from although it will cost you significantly more than if you bought it at a bait shop not on the pier. Live shrimp doesn't show up until usually 7-8am. You can always cast net for green backs and sometimes even squid at night. I've caught about 30 arm length squid in one cast before that we used for grouper bait and alot of calamari dinners. There are Goliath grouper there along with King fish at times and grouper is always being caught but be careful of getting rocked by them as they will do it very quick. I have yet to get one into the pier that wasn't undersized but I have seen alot of people successfully pull in 24-28 inchers I just haven't had the luck or proper equipment to get them in without getting rocked. One of the things I like catching there the most is mackerel when they're running in the spring because you can catch...
Read moreI've been here dozens of times. Never caught anything of note, and have only seen a few people catch anything nice that can't be caught elsewhere in the area. I've come to think of this pier like a casino - hundreds of people go every day, but only a lucky few leave smiling. After the recent ridiculous pelican-related drama and new rules, including a required pelican class and banning sabikis, treble hooks, and lures with more than one hook, I will not be returning again. Ever. Not because I want the pelican huggers to win, but because I saw no effort at all on behalf of the anglers by the organization that runs the pier. Now that I think of it, They appear to put no effort into anything. This place has so much wasted potential. Get rid of the pelican people, fix the lights, power wash the entire thing a couple times per year, clean up all the lost fishing garbage under the pier, toss a little colorful paint around, hold some fishing seminars, put a little playground by the bait shop to entertain the kids, etc etc. I don't even know what I'm doing and I could run circles around...
