Do not live here.
They will let you live in mold, ruined fixtures, mice, etc. and call it “a fine place to live” but still charge you every dime on your security deposit at move out.
Moving in, the fridge was missing a glass shelf but we listed it on the damages sheet it was like that before we moved in. Come move out, clearly they didn’t look at that list because they still tried to charge us $45 for that shelf.
Also, it’s mandatory you have renters insurance. Ours covered carpet cleaning for pet damages and accidents, which sure it could need (even tho the water was black when we moved in and used our carpet cleaner on it) but they are charging ME the $150 for carpet cleaning, when that should be covered by the insurance I paid for because it was mandatory to have.
Our couch was ruined by the mice living here, it is a pull out couch. Within just weeks, it became infested with mice and covered in droppings and pee marks. Was told by the insurance that rodent damage isn’t covered, whatever I didn’t care enough at this point because I was already so over this place.
We had a ceiling leak, to which it just looks like they spray painted over. It was in our closet too (so I didn’t see it because it’s storage closet) and my stuff was FLOODED with moldy water from the leak. Brand new items, ruined. The maintenance man was in that closet and didn’t even think to say “hey, your items are damaged or have water on them you might want to clean that” so it sat there, without me knowing it was there. On the day of moving out, we noticed it was leaking again. Not my problem at that point, I was moved out.
Moving onto the bathroom, at move in we was greeted with a HORRIBLE bathroom. The tub was rusted from where it’s obviously not draining properly. The caulking job alone was horrible, which deteriorated over time as we showered and caused the bathroom to become moldy and more than likely into the walls. We had a 6 month inspection, where they came and looked at the bathtub. It looked horrible then, they even took pictures of it. But didn’t think to say “hey maybe we should fix this so it doesn’t get worse” so I thought ok, maybe they’re fine with it being moldy.
The laminate on the kitchen cabinets were chipping off when we moved in, the kitchen sink would leak under the cabinet because it was caulked incorrectly, under the kitchen sink at move out was FILLED with mouse poop. Which obviously they charged me for to clean at move out, but that’s a biohazard and I’m not cleaning it. Just like the expensive couch I had to throw in the dumpster because it was ruined by mice and impossible to clean due to the AMOUNT of mice droppings.
Also at move out, I called to tell them the fire door had broken off the top hinge and was hanging off and going to fall. The only way it wouldn’t fall over is if someone was holding it. I told them on the phone this was making it nearly impossible for our stuff to be moved out of the apartment with having someone to hold the door the entire time, losing a set of hands to help. They never came while we were there. “I’ll let maintenance know” We had to manage around the broken door
Also, because I just now remembered lol, with the ceiling leak (which was just a big browning spot getting bigger and darker) I called to let them now and said I was unsure if I should’ve called emergency maintenance or not but I forgot the number. They said “has it collapsed yet?” No… “ok, then it’s not an emergency and they’ll be out on Monday” is what I was told. Word for wordddddd.
I also tried to break my lease early. The contract they sent me to break the lease stated the fees associated with breaking the lease were due BEFORE your last day living there, but they told me it was due “now”. I questioned them, but they pushed back. I said “well shouldn’t you abide by what the LEGAL CONTRACT says?” And after hours of back and forth emailing and not wanting to honor the legal document, they sent me an “updated” contract. I was so over it and that couldn’t work for me, so unfortunately I...
Read moreWORSE APT ever If you want to be happy don't get apartment here Roof leaks for months, nohot water at least 3 times a year, you can never get maintenance on weekends or after hours ever. You literally putting your money in the trash cane, they will be so fast to charge extra 250$ for 5 min late pay rent but they will take months and year to fix roof leak! What a great place! There was no lights outside the buildings and when I come back in the night I barely can see in the winter I fell down on the icing because I couldn't see because of the extreme darkness I went to the office and they said the guy can't fix them in the night he will do the lights in the morning, but guess what it took them a whole YEAR to fix the lights I think the sun take 1 year to rise in carriage hill!!! All neighbors smoke weed and I brought my concerns for them multiple times and they said they can't do anything, I started having breathing issues because of the smoke and the mold and my cat had asthma and they don't give a shit!!! It's okay to walk 3 min to your apt building in the dark and in the night because you can't find parking and then the lady in the office yelling saying it's public parking!!!! I pay 1100 to not find parking next to my apartment and once I parked in the handicapped one time they drag my car and had me pay to get it back. Before they start the heat in the winter you will freeze saying that the temp should be lower than 40 for 10 continues days so the boilers start working !!! And at the beginning of the summer you die of heat because you need to wait untill it's 80 for 10 continues days. We pay 25$ each month for swimming pool that it didn't open this year at all!!!! The trash is everywhere and sometimes they took weaks to clean it!!! Wait let's come to the fun part!!! In the snow you have to wait more than a week until they clean it up and sometimes more, if you want to be able to go to work or even to the grocery store you have to park your car a way far and walk 10 min because the road will be closed even In case of emergency the ambulance wouldn't be able to come inside because of the snow!!! I locked outside my apartment one time on Saturday night and no one came over to open the door until Monday I had to sleep in my car in the winter, and manager walking relaxing in the morning saying that she saw my emails and emergency maintenance emails but I should write emergency instead of urgent so she can do something, so she saw that l am locked outside but she still ignored that!!! And of course for fire inspection they don't tell exact hour and day that they will come in it, they tell you we will come between this date and this date and if you're lucky they will not be surprised by some guy inside your apartment while you are sleeping naked or showering or taking online exam!!!! What a miserable place to live in I can't wait...
Read moreLet me start by saying, don't get too excited when you see the pictures of this place when it pops up on Google, they are very misleading. My boyfriend and I stayed here for just over 2 years. When Marianne was there things were going well. If we had a maintenance issue someone was there pretty quick. When she left and new management took over things went downhill fast. We had just had a baby and moved over to the 2 bedroom apartment. In the, little more, than a year we lived in the 2 bedroom, the air conditioning went out so often we spent most of the summer without air conditioning until we finally requested a window unit until it was resolved. Which by the way, only works in the room you put it in and then you have to use 2-3 box fans to circulate the cool air and hope it cools the apartment down in the 100 degree summer heat. Keep in mind our baby isn't even a year old yet. Plus, we're increasing our electric bill more than we should be. (p.s. it never got fixed) The bathtub drain never drained properly and the bathroom ceiling was leaking so much water from the upstairs bathroom you couldn't use your own toilet. Not to mention the fact that it was there shower water coming down on us and on multiple occasions, their toilet water as well. We put in multiple requests to have it fixed but all Gerald did was come in and look at it, laughed it off, and NOTHING came of it. I can only imagine what is beneath the water damage from the leaking, especially since it's obviously not Management's priority to address that problem. The renovations are nice, but all it is, is a bandaid that masks all the problems. We are clean people but I'm assuming it's a building problem because multiple occasions we had to have the exterminator come in and kill off the bugs that came into our apartment. And then they raised our rent by almost 200$. AND had multiple extra water charges on our account that they couldn't explain or justify to why it was on there, just that we had to pay it. So, almost 4 months after resigning the lease, we decided to move to out. Unfortunately we were forced to pay out over 2000$ just get out of there because of how unsanitary and potentially dangerous to our, and especially our infant's, health. I understand it's in the contract to pay out the money to break the lease, but had these problems been addressed we would have just finished out the lease. So I feel they are getting money very unjustly all because of the "fine print". I'm well aware that carriage hill will respond to this in a manner that makes the apartment complex look good and possibly have a few apologetic words to how we are dissatisfied, but it doesn't fix the problem and it certainly doesn't replace the money we had to shell...
