(Edit 06/18/2024) I still shop here, the store is now called "Cains". Most of the complants I've had in the past are gone. Its a rather pleasant experince these days. I'm not looking for anything great as far as shopping but when your local grocery store's employees are even mildly respectful (professional), its nice. I've bumped up my rating to 3 stars from 2.
(Edit 10/05/2022) The employee with a long tattoo on her arm is probably one of the rudest people in the store. I would assume she is a relative of someone in management.
(Edit 01/12/2021) Most of what i had to say still applies. I don't expect the cashiers to change, its more of a game for me and a few friends now. -"Did they say welcome to Carters?" yup -did they care? -nope" One day one of them was actually filing her fingernails. LOL (2020) Their prices are high, their cashiers act as if they have more important things to do other than check your purchase. I try not to go there mainly because of the "entitled" attitude of the cashiers. They can say "Welcome to Carters" all day long but they don't really mean it. What their attitude seems to say is, "Great, now I gotta do something!" Edit (9/26/19) Still over priced goods, same kind of attitude from the cashiers. Edit (12/29/19 2:00pm) After shopping I proceeded to the next available cashier, lane #2. I unloaded several items onto the conveyor (the first being a case of water) when the cashier said, "lane #1 is open" with a put-upon tone. I said, "That's ok, I've already started to unload my groceries" she said, "I really didn't want to handle that water" with the same tone. I'm really shocked that these little kids are allowed to be so disrespectful to the customers...
ย ย ย Read moreI have shopped at Carters for a long time and haven't had a bad thing to say until now. Twice I have shopped there and had a very rude cashier that couldn't say thank you after the transaction...as a matter of fact she didn't say anything the entire time and just dropped my change in my hand....but today was unbelievable! I was in line with my handicapped brother in-law the cashier checked me out then asked my brother in law to go to another register (after he stood there while I checked out) I asked her if she would go ahead and check him out since he was already there and only had a few things. Her response was "No, I'm sorry) While my brother in law had to go get in another line to be checked out she locked her register and went stood by another register to talk...then returned to her register and began to close her register out. The 5 minutes she spent talking to the other cashier she could have checked out a handicapped man with cerebral palsey that had trouble walking and with only a few groceries...then closed her...
ย ย ย Read moreI live in holden, la. 6 miles from Carters in albany and 6 miles from carters in Livingston. I went Albany today because i needed to go tomthe pharmacy next door. I usually go to Livingston but since I was there I went there. The ad in the circular advertised 16 Louisiana crawfish tails for $9.99 lb. This is a very good price. I only found two bags that said Louisiana on them . Got to the register and they rang up over $17.00. Needless to say, I protested. The so called manager came up front and told me these werenโt right. He went back and couldnโt find any. I went in god faith and was told that i couldnโt have these, even though they clearly said Louisiana and were 16 oz. He asked me to come back tomorrow which is a 12 mile round trip, hard enough but for an 80 year old, worse. I think he could have substituted the ones they had surely Cartersโs could afford to correct their mistake, so if youโre old and handicapped donโt go to Cartersโs in Albany. The clerks were...
