Dollar General — Local services in Hampton

This place has the worst evening shift management. They have an authority junkie managing the store. She disappears quiet often from what I've witnessed. The girl running the register was pleasant but accidentally rang up one item two times and after waiting approx. 7 minutes on the employee to find the manager to remove her error, I gave up and left. I never saw the manager, it was like she left and didn't let anyone know anything. A simple run in and run out trip is not what anyone should expect. Make sure you allow plenty of time cause if there's a mistake made and management is needed GOOD LUCK....

About a week before this incident, the same manager (AMANDA) , was talking hateful to one of the employees. I felt so sorry for the hardworking little cashier because the authority junkie whose on some crazed power trip and shouldn't be allowed to run a business of all things especially... she had the cashier rattled and it's unprofessional to discipline an employee by bullying them in front of customers while making a scene just for show. It was obvious she isn't cut out to have a position with any authority. The employee being disciplined wasn't of color. The manager IS, and that is all that I will say to how it looked from what I witnessed. If anyone else has noticed the behavior I am bringing to light, please add a review and maybe can stop this store from losing anymore business. One...

I dont know what has happened to the staff as of late but not only do they not seem to be able to keep up with the lines but they are RUDE as hell! Today was not my first day but may well be one of my last days shopping at our local DG. Yes, its the only store for about a 30 mile radius but I work hard for my money and I will not support the staff you have recently filled your store with. I have given about 2 weeks for them to settle in and learn the job but they are terrible. I figure my money loss wont hurt DG but being a daily shopper at DG to never darkening their door... Super rude sales associate; I have a medical condition that doesn't allow me to smell properly, and I was seeing what this one perfume smelled like so I gave a few sprays to see if I could actually smell it & she was yelling through the store "don't spray anything" "no spraying", and at the register she was cussing about her "nose" burning cause of the smell? She was rude and I felt discriminated against. Definitely...
