I RARELY ever leave unsolicited feedback but this was such a disappointing experience that I felt others should be ware.
I had a loose stone because two of the pins were catching and had pulled back allowing the stone to now have movement. They indicated they would have to remake two prongs. The cost was double what I've paid elsewhere for the same work, but decided that since I was away from home needed to get it done. I've never experienced pre-paying for jewelry repair and never will again. They do not "warranty" their work and if you're not satisfied you have little recourse. Basically after having my ring handed back to me I inspected it and found that both pins were raised off the stone such that my fingernail fit under it. This was the issue in the first place that caused the pins to catch and ultimately bend and loosen the ring. Upon much back and forth (with some interpretation needed) he ground it down, but that ultimately did not fix the issue and only flattened and widened the pins on the top causing a bit of an unsightly mash of metal, including another pin that was not a problem to begin with. When he indicated that there were no warrantees for repairs I replied that the ring wasn't repaired as it would only continue to catch and eventually break a pin. He tried to "explain" that more metal on the pins was good for strength, but this was not my issue - the ring will catch (and immediately did upon getting it home and having it slide along some fabric - instant catch). When I explained that the pins need to rest on the stone with no gap or upturn to ensure it doesn't catch he finally "offered" to keep the ring to "try" to fix it and to come back in 5 days. I wasn't comfortable with that and continued dialogue. Finally again, he ground it down some more and what you see is what I went home with. Sorely disappointed. Waste of my money and my time. Very unprofessional. I gave 2 stars only because he "attempted" to correct his failed repair. I have been to two other jewelry repair places in the past and have had far better interactions, far better service, and far better repairs, and much better rates.
In the pictures, the first is a before of the face of the ring with the arrows pointing to the two pins needing repair. The second is "after" the "repair" and the mashed metal of all 3 pins. The third is after the "repair" and with a super close up you can actually see that the pins are gapped and turned up. One is a pin they "repaired" and the other is the one pin that didn't need any work. Sadly the ring came back in much worse shape than when I left it there. The only positive thing I can say is that the stone isn't...
Read moreSo I had a few gold and silver pieces but I was looking to sell for a fair offer. and I've been all over the place between downtown Charleston North Charleston and West Ashley. When I arrived at Antonio's I told them right off the rip that I was tired of riding around and I gave them the best offer that I had received from a jewelry store downtown Charleston and I told him if y'all could match it that would be great I would take it and they actually beat it considerably awesome people awesome place highly recommend to anybody and everybody if you go anywhere anywhere else you're going to be wasting your time and you're not going to get anywhere close to what you're expecting if you research your stuff yourself first like I did and they actually hit right on target for what I was looking to get for it. Thank you guys so much. Out of five stars...
