After a âcomplimentary trialâ daycare visit that ended up costing $30, my dog and I will never be returning here again. When I tried to book boarding, the staff said it was required to bring my dog for a complimentary day of daycare for a minimum of 4 hours. When we arrived, they explained my dog wonât have an opportunity to go to the bathroom outside unless I pay $13 per walk, she would only be able to defecate on the other half of a cage, which they refer to as their âindoor elimination area.â I added the walks because otherwise that would be a miserable day for my dog. What a scam for a complimentary day! My first impression when I called for pricing was a feeling as though I was on the phone with a used car salesman. The pricing structure is ridiculously complicated and completely over the top. The lady was explaining prices for approximately 30 minutes and then ended with, âis this the type of experience you want your dog to have here?â after she explained an added package that would be over $150 a night. I requested to have the information emailed and she wasnât able to do that, so she mailed the pricing, which is just as confusing in their brochure. For instance, why is a walk called a âbusiness walkâ why do none of the A LA Carte Services describe how much time youâre paying for? I tried to schedule grooming for my short haired medium size dog and they said it could range from $65-85 depending on her behavior?? Iâve never heard of that before⊠If you look closely at their âmenu of servicesâ you will see they charge $4 per meal if you want your pet on the same food they typically eat. Itâs obviously not good to switch their food while boarding since the pet is already stressed, so why would they charge $4 per meal to serve your own pet food that you provide?? Just one of their ludicrous charges. When I first entered the facility, I noticed there were no dogs playing in any of the outdoor play areas, or anywhere besides cages that reminded me of an animal shelter. There were no dogs in the pool, and there were no cats in the open cat room with scratch pads, toys, and beds â only in cages. I then realized itâs because the place is too expensive so all the animals were just in small cages. When the staff describes the âindoor elimination areaâ â itâs actually the other half of a cage. This reminds me of the animal shelter my dog was rescued from, so she would never be boarded there. Apparently, unless you add these additional services your dog would NEVER be taken from that cage during their stay, not to go to the bathroom, be pet, or play. They would stay there 24/7 â which is just cruel. If you boarded your dog here for a week and didnât add a 15 minute, $13 walk, your dog would never see the light of day during that week. Additionally, Morris Animal Inn isnât staffed 24/7, which many less expensive boarding facilities are, and when I asked about that they said the owner, who lives 10 minutes away comes everyday at 1am to check on everyone, which doesnât sound believable to me. They donât give written reports about the dogâs time there and when I called to check on my dog, they said they would just tell me everything when I picked her up, at which point I was expecting a written report, as the other facilities provide. After picking my dog up from daycare, where she was for about 6 hours â I took her home and she was extremely energetic, like she had been locked in a cage all day. I paid $30 for this âcomplimentary required dayâ and drove all this way for nothing because this was a horrible experience. My advice is to go to any other place for a...
Read moreWe've been bringing our dog to the Morris Animal Inn for a few years and haven't had any issues until today. My in-laws have also boarded their Golden Retrievers at the Inn on a number of occasions.
The place looks nice as you approach it and in the past the Inn lived up to their exterior, but it appears that the business has slipped. We boarded our Golden in the Duke suite over Thanksgiving break.
When we returned to pick him up, the employee returning our dog handed us a bag with another dog's name on it. It seemed to be a mix up with another dog with a similar name, but that was only the beginning of our issues.
It took them 20 minutes to return our dog from boarding
The other dog's bag contained our dog's medication
As we were on our way home, the manager of boarding gave us a call to reassure us that our dog's medication was given to him appropriately. This was clearly not the case since we gave them ten pills and he returned with six pills. They should have given him eight pills in total and we should have only returned with two pills. The manager argued that her records showed that medication was given to our dog.
We gave them a day and a half of extra food in case our flight was delayed or we were stuck somewhere. When we talked to the manager on the phone, she explained that they had one meal's worth of food left. We never received a reason for why this wasn't returned to us and what happened to the other food.
The trimming of our dog's nails was sloppy at best. The excuse the manager gave us was because of the cold weather and deferred accountability to the grooming department. We have a professional groomer that grooms our dog outside of the Morris Animal Inn and we've never had this issue.
The manager of boarding provided excuses instead of taking accountability. We were clearly unhappy with our experience and wanted to hear from them that they were going to do something about it, but instead we just got excuses and she tried to make us feel as if everything was done appropriately when clearly it wasn't.
The manager became frustrated with us on the phone and hung up on us. She clearly didn't believe there were issues and when she didn't want to hear anymore, she hung up on us.
We don't know if this was a one-time experience, but based on the manager's reaction to our issues, we believe that there are a lot of excuses and little accountability for errors. The Inn should react professionally to their customer's feedback and not argue with them. We believe this might be a case where a business has become too comfortable.
We see a lot of good reviews for the Morris Animal Inn, but we suggest that if you're going to bring your pet to the Morris Animal Inn please keep an eye open to the issues that we mentioned above and see how they react when you have a problem with their service.
We won't be returning anytime soon, but we are more than open to discussing our poor experience with them so that they can make changes so no one else has a...
Read moreIâm giving this place 1 star because it is the only way I can write a review. This place is a highly over priced pet hotel. All they care about is making as much money as they can at the expense of dog lovers. They take good care of your dog, and they have a very nice facility however they are not fair with every dog breed. I own a Rottweiler who was raised with so much love and is the most friendliest and playful large dog with tons of fun you can imagine wouldnât hurt a fly he just loves to play with other dogs. I took him to Morris inn for the play activities they offered. They interviewed him and told me he is friendly and they had no problem with him however because he is a Rottweiler for âinsuranceâ purposes my dog cannot join play activities with other dogs, but if I like they can get a staff member to play with him. If I wanted a person to play with my dog I wouldnât send him there I would do it myself! That is not why I send him there! I want my dog to socialize with other dogs and play with other dogs and have fun with other dogs. This facility was only interested in taking my money knew my dog was a good dog but lied to me about an âinsurance â liability about my dogs breed so he wouldnât play with other dogs. They discriminated against my dogs breed. I took my dog to camp Bow Wow and there my dog played with all types of breeds, it was truly a doggie camp and all dogs have fun with each other staff is amazing with the dogs reasonably priced no discrimination on breeds as long as your dog is friendly and can play well with others. If your looking for luxury hotel and want to throw your money away and donât care if the facility cares about your dog only about your pocket book then Morris animal is for you. If your looking for a real doggie day care or boarding fun atmosphere for dogs, non discriminating, reasonably priced and staff truly cares about your dog take them to camp Bow Wow. Oh and that âinsuranceâ liability they mentioned to me about my dogs breed was a lie. Shame on you Mortis animal inn! Itâs funny how you make so much money on dog lovers but canât afford better insurance? Hmmmmm. I think you just want the easy way out because you really donât care about servicing every breed fairly. Good Luck with your over priced pet hotel, I hope others that own breeds like mine see right through your bait and switch see your facility for what it truly is. Money hungry, pick and chose the best and easiest breeds to work with because you only higher untrained teenagers to pay them as little as possible. You fooled me once never again. I hope places like camp Bow wow put you out...
