PLEASE READ IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING LIVING HERE.... -- Most "good reviews" are made because residents are bribed to make them (put into a drawing to win prizes/money), so you should read reviews with caution. THE BAD... -- Safety is one of my main concerns with this apartment complex. There have been multiple shootings/ drug busts at this complex since me moving here in 2017. Yes, police patrol the premises (rarely), but that does not seem to make a difference. I have heard of multiple people's cars and apartments getting broken into. Another safety issue is how people speed through the parking lots. I have almost been hit, on multiple occasions, while trying to cross the street to throw my trash away. The speed bumps do not make a difference in the speeding. -- The trash is a major issue at The Chelsea. There is one trash compactor in the entire place, and people do not understand how to use it even though it is the simplest contraption in the world. People tend to place their garbage in the opening of the compactor instead of throwing it in which causes other people to pile their trash bags outside of the compactor. This becomes very stinky and disgusting because one person is too lazy to throw the bag down the chute. Another problem is that residents will drive to the compactor with their trash bags on top of their cars, and the bags end up falling off into the road. They don't stop to pick up the bags either. -- "The Chelsea is a gated community" is a false statement. Yes, there is a gate, but it has been broken about 95% of the two years I have lived here. The gate has never worked for longer than 2 weeks. Whenever the gate was fixed, it was normally broken within the next few days (if not the same day it was fixed). Also, whenever the entrance gate is working, the process for visitors to enter is ridiculous, and this needs to be improved once the gate is fixed. There is also a gate that separates the premises from the Longleaf Trace, and this gate has never been closed/fixed out of my two years of living year. -- The noise level at this complex is absurd. At all hours of the night, you can hear people yelling outside, cars zooming past, and vehicles raving up their engines and doing burnouts like itâs a racetrack. I was woken up at 3 o'clock in the morning to someone screeching their tires and driving what sounded like 80 miles an hour to the exit. I was about to fall back asleep when I heard the same car driving back into the complex, screeching their tires again, and driving at an insane speed. Then, they drove back out doing the same thing. This was extremely frustrating and also extremely dangerous. Another noise complaint is that the walls and separation between the floors are super thin. I could hear my neighbor's music and muffled conversations. I could also hear every move/step the people above me would take at all hours of the day/night. -- The premises of The Chelsea are dirty. There is always trash all over the ground. The sidewalks, stairs, and walls need to be pressure-washed because they are slippery. (I think they have been cleaned twice since me moving here in 2017.) One of my roommates found a needle at the bottom of the staircase. There was an infestation of fruit flies that lasted about three months, and I cannot tell you how many flies I killed in those three months. -- Lastly, The Chelsea is expensive. I do not think the positives outweigh the negatives for it to cost as much as it does to live here. THE GOOD... -- Maintenance requests are tended to in a very timely manner. I also had an emergency request one night for a leak, and the maintenance man came out to my apartment around 10 o'clock that night to fix it. -- The shuttle to college is a nice accommodation. It runs according to schedule most days, unless the bus needs emergency maintenance (which happens from time to time). -- The appliances in the apartment are nice and up-to-date. -- The floor plans are convenient since each person has his/her own bathroom, and the apartments...
Read moreTRUST ME WHEN I SAY "DO NOT MOVE TO THIS COMPLEX!" (if you are thinking about moving here, please take time to read this review)
Upon moving in, I was extremely excited to live at the Vie Apartments. The workers seemed friendly and the complex looked upscale. From DAY ONE, my experience here was a nightmare. I couldn't possibly go over everything that went wrong, because it would literally take forever so i'll just list a few things: 1.) There were fees that me and my roommate had NO IDEA about until move in day that we had to pay upfront before they'd give us our keys. (we moved in August 16th, 2015 and had to pay $819 each just for 2 weeks of living there in august) *we were told by KIERRA (whom no longer works there, go figure) that all we'd have to pay was $210 (which was a LIE). 2.) This complex is CONSTANTLY getting new staff members, which is the main reason why nobody is on the same page because they can't keep their employees for longer then a couple of months. 3.) We never received our barstools for our "fully-furnished" apartment. 4.) There will be a security guard throughout different nights of the week that you will have to give YOUR apartment key to before you can even enter into your own COMPLEX *so they can scan it to let you in. One guard was extremely rude and always made me feel like I was a criminal just for entering into my own HOME. He would shine a flashlight in OUR CARS upon entering through the gates. 5.) Mason, the supposedly "manager" or "account manager" or whatever he is, isn't the most friendly person by no means. I have also been told different answers to my questions by several employees such as Josh, Nikki, and Richard and they would all act like they didn't know what was going on. When I would ask them where the manager was, the "supposedly" manager would always be gone, off the property, or not available. 6.) This property only cares about YOUR MONEY. Your issues or problems mean nothing to the staff. ALSO, PLEASE BE AWARE that if you decide to sublease your apartment, THIS COMPLEX will not help you with subleasing whatsoever. When I subleased my apartment, Nikki lost my already signed sublease paperwork and I was also told by multiple staff members that the sublease fee was $200 and ended up being charged $300. 7.) Lastly, this complex still OWES ME MONEY! I paid my last month upfront and ended up subleasing. Therefore, the property owes me my pre payment back which totals $309 after they took out the $300 sublease fee. I was told that i would be receiving a refund check of $309 within 30-60 days by multiple staff members and even got a manager to sign a paper saying that. However, it has been well past 60 days and i haven't received ANY of my refund and I've been calling them throughout the week and still don't know for sure exactly when I will be receiving my refund. I also was made aware that the complex LOST my last utility payment but later conveniently found it, when i told them i would FAX THEM my receipt of my payment.
I have a lot more to tell about this complex so if anyone has any further questions please message me. I have NEVER in my life written a review for ANYWHERE, however this experience has been a complete nightmare and i hope I can prevent this from happening to potentially future residents.

Read moreI am not exaggerating when I say this student living apartment complex deserves ZERO stars! The only reason they have one star is so that I could post my review. The Vie @ Hattiesburg staff is extremely unprofessional, greedy, uncooperative, and rude. Most of the staff or students themselves and lack the experience to run a proper business, they just work to decrease their own rent. However, they can't help but to be inexperienced and careless due to the incredibly RUDE property manager, Molly, who is over them. She is literally the property manager from HELL! She talks to residents like they are elementary children, not the adults that we are. She has a HORRIBLE attitude and does not act on complaints or issues that we may have, she would rather cut you off in the middle of your sentence and "dismiss" you. I've had three encounters with Molly and the all were negative. I recently got my car towed due to the fact that the Vie staff FAILED to give me a new and updated parking decal (while I have been up to the office several times). I went to the office to talk to someone about potential retrieving my car and information on the towing company and I was immediately greeted with attitude from staff member Hailey. She proceeded to argue with me and tell me that "it was my fault" and she proceeded to say that they sent several notices through email (which I never received) and social media and when I told her I did not know about Vie social media she proceeded to say "well maybe you should follow us then". That was RUDE and social media is an extremely POOR way of connected and informing residents of news due to the fact that everyone does not have social media! Also, I asked to speak with Molly and she came out after 10 minutes VERY defensive and rude! she literally cut me off every time I tried to say a word and proceeded to say the same thing, refusing to even hear my concerns. She proceeded roll her eyes and neck, get smart, and say it's not her fault. Every time I have an encounter with her it is very stand offish, unsuccessful, and unprofessional! I also had another incident where me and a former roommate continued to get in verbal altercations which eventually turned physical and I had put in complaints on SEVERAL occasions about this situation, however they were ignored and when I went to the first five to talk to Molly her responce was "well I can't move you, y'all will have to figure it out". My former roommate and I had to figure the living situation out on our own and she ended up moving out after the police were called. Molly is very racist and prejudgemental and brings a bad Ora to frfr rest of the staff who follow behind her. Also, they walk in your apartment unannounced and even your bedroom space, they take forever to respond to work maintenance orders, and the are so "money hungry" all they care about is what potential money they can suck college student residents dry of! I DO NOT RECOMMEND THESE APARTMENTS TO ANYONE! Also, the rooms look NOTHING like the "model" apartment they show you on the tour! I definitely recommend Eagle Flatts if choosing student leaving or other local apartments around the Hattiesburg area....
