After flying with larger operators, it was nice to be treated like ohana and not a number. We were promptly greeted even though we were early. We were seated on a comfortable patio and given a snack and water during our pre-flight talk. Helen have us and overview of the flight and some interesting information about Hawaiian history and legends. The pilot joined us with some additional information. Very casual and unrushed. We took the full island two-hour tour of the Big Island which included the active volcano. Our pilot Jacob was very informative. There were three of us and we chartered their 66 copter (holds four passengers). This guaranteed each of us a window seat. The cost of this was just slightly more than the cost at the larger operators, but will worth it as I always get stuck in a rear center seat and fight got views the whole trip. Also, the flight wenta few minutes longer than the two hours we booked. At the big operators, their large copters usually stop for fuel in Hilo which cuts 15 mins off your flight time. We'll always fly Mauna Loa over the big operators and we have them 5 Stars. Too things that are different, but not necessarily negatives: The headsets do not play music fitting the flight. Instead, you get to listen to all the chatter between copter pilots and ATC. We found it interesting. Second, some other copters record your flight and then sell you the recording. Take your camera and take the shots you want for free. A big MAHALO to Jacob, Helen and the MLH crew for an...
Read moreI can't recommend this helicopter tour company enough—especially if you have the chance to fly with Lance and Savannah! I booked the tour for my grandson and his girlfriend, while I stayed behind in their cozy tiki hut, but I can honestly say this experience exceeded all expectations… And then some!
Lance, their pilot, was absolutely incredible! Watching the other pilots interact with their groups, I can say without a doubt that Lance is the best. He took the time to explain everything in such detail, which made my grandson and me feel completely at ease. His professionalism and care for his passengers really stood out. Not only did he make the flight feel safe and fun, but his knowledge of the island made the whole experience feel more personal and special. As long as I can get Lance as my pilot, I’ll definitely be returning!
Savannah was equally amazing. She’s such a sweetheart—she went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable while waiting. She checked in on me multiple times, even giving me some fantastic local recommendations for things to do on the island. They even have little Thank You cards in the office and made sure we left with water after the tour — such a thoughtful touch!
Lance and Savannah make the perfect team, and this tour was hands-down the best way to see the island. If I could do it a million times, I absolutely would. I’ll definitely be back, and I highly recommend this company to anyone looking for an unforgettable experience with the best...
Read moreI’m writing this review on behalf on my parents who are still currently in Kona on a once in a lifetime vacation. One of the main reasons they decided to take this trip, was my Dad’s wish to fly over and see a volcano. They booked this flight months in advance and were all set for the 1:20 flight on 05/26/25. On 05/25/25, the day before their booked excursion, they were asked to reschedule their flight time due to needing a minimum of 5 guests per flight. After months of waiting, they were now being told, not only could they not take the flight they originally booked, but would be joining a larger group, with middle much less ideal seats on the helicopter, all for the same amount of money originally paid. This is not a cheap excursion as you can imagine and this last minute “change” lead them to cancel all together. The lack of communication and short notice left everyone feeling cheated and put a major damper on what should have been the highlight of their vacation. I understand when dealing with helicopters, safety must come first, and “they need to cover costs of the flight to operate”. However, reading reviews from this and other companies in the area, lack of communication and last minute cancellations due to “not enough bookings” are not that uncommon here. I’d suggest doing your research on which tour agency is most reliable for the area and maybe putting an excursion like this on the front half of your vacation to account for any changes they may force...
