M & T Meats — Local services in Hawkinsville

I have Multiple Chemical Sensitivity, which includes some chemicals naturally found in many foods. For the past 3 years I haven’t been able to find a turkey that only has water added. Friends recommended M&T Meat Co. When I called the store and asked if their turkeys had anything added besides water, they told me no. I asked if they could hold one for me to pick up on the weekend because it is a long drive for us and they said yes. We went today and found the place to be crowded with customers, but well stocked and with lots of friendly helpful staff. When they brought our turkey out I was disappointed to see it was a brand I could have bought at our local grocery store and it does have broth, sugar and natural flavorings added. I get to roast a turkey I won’t get to eat because I don't know whether the broth and natural flavorings have ingredients that will cause me to stop breathing or start bleeding, and I have a digestive intolerance to sugar. No matter what grocery store I shopped at in 2019, the was a serious meat shortage due to the pandemic and when they did have meat it was so expensive. I had heard about M&T Meats and decided to make the trip. Lovely 30 minute drive. You will think you are lost in the back forty but use your GPS and you will find it. The outside has plenty of parking for regular and handicapped. Clean and neat. The fun starts when you enter. One employee takes your order and stays with you while you walk down the meat counter picking and packing what you want. You can choose regular meat wrapping or for extra money you can have vacuum sealed with or without marinade. I spent about $300 for a family of four and it lasted about 2 months. My mom loves coming here for good quality of meat, but she always receive bad vibes from the employees. One of the employees told another employee "she's not going to buy nothing but $20 worth of stuff" I wished my mom told me this way sooner because I hate when companies are prejudice towards their customers. Definitely giving me racist vibes. I'll be sure to help her find somewhere else to get her meats from. She travels a distance to support this buisness and only to be frowned upon for spending her hard earned money. I don't care if she was spending only $5 dollars. Treat every customer the same!!!!
