Haynesville Golf Course — Local services in Haynesville

This is a solid, affordable 9-hole course with good terrain and a nice mix of course hazards and scenery. I grew up playing golf here and it will always be one of my favorite courses. Since moving back to Haynesville I have come to appreciate this course more. It is fairly open so hackers like me won't lose as many balls as on a links course or one with a lot of water. There are a few holes with water hazards but you have to hit some really bad shots to lose a ball on them.

The open air pavillion is a nice refuge when rain pops up. You're no more than 400 yards or so from it on 7 of the 9 holes. There are a couple of long picnic style tables and big fans to help cool you off. The bathrooms could be improved. Let's just say you will want to go #2 before you get there. The clubhouse is on the small side, is air conditioned, and has a covered porch where you can watch others play a few holes. They sell gloves, balls, and hats for sale in the clubhouse if the need arises.

There is typically some wind blowing on the mostly open course. Fairways are loosely divided by large pine and oak trees that provide me with lots of shade when I play. Some courses are surrounded by woods that block off most of the wind. All you get on thise courses is to see the treetops moving and wish you could feel it. The fairways and greens are better than expected from a small town municipal course. The greens are mostly on the smaller side and are either turtle-backed or have terrain.
