Having my adult daughter admitted here has shown that most of the staff are great. We had a couple of exceptional nurses, Tami and Brooke. Dr. Eric Acosta and Dr. Justin Helberg were fantastic with her care. Hospitalist- Dr. Kahn was not! She was more focused on pushing HER beliefs onto my daughter than she was about the pain level she was in. With 5 fractures in her back she SHOULD be in pain. She specifically asked that Dr. Kahn NOT be her hospitalist due to Dr. Kahn repeatedly asked if my daughter was nursing. Considering Wesley in Wichita knew she was nursing, and Dr. C & Dr. S. Knew, it was fine. Dr . Kahn disagreed so made "mistakes" with her discharge meds back in November, when Dr. C. and Dr. S. were discussing discharging her without Dr. Kahn being a part of the decision.
When Dr. Kahn found out my daughter refused her, she literally went into the room to ask why. Was apparently upset that my daughter was able to care for her own baby on the meds she was prescribed. Kahn wasn't ever worried about her pain level. She lowered my daughters meds without discussing it with her or anyine. When my daughter found out, she of course was upset. It was discovered that Dr. Kahn was prepping her for discharge by lowering her doses to "at home" levels. Which would have been fine had she been scheduled for discharge. There had been absolutely no discussion of discharging. My daughter was advised to file a complaint with Mandy in HR. Once Dr. Kahn found this out, she reinstated the med orders as they were, and then forbid my daughter from having her baby with her anymore, we can only assume to orevent any nursing, even though she had already informed that she was in fact NOT nursing anymore. My daughter was admitted for pain management, and her baby was allowed to stay overnights with her for the previous 4 days, because of Dr. Kahn, my daughter asked to be discharged. Now shes getting discharged and because of Dr. Kahn the accusation of being addicted to pain meds has been thrown around. All because Dr. Kahn...she is evil and vindictive. Should not be a hospitalist, let alone in health care at all! A formal complaint...
Read moreAs someone who has both worked here and been a patient here I can not overstate how bad this hospital is. They screw over the nurses and other ancillary care staff. The care is very poor, and if you actually need real care they will charge you a fantastic sum of money to find out something you could tell them for free and then refer you somewhere else. The Hays Medical Group has mismanaged staggering sums of money (the botched KU merger wasn't even the first catastrophe) and instead of lopping off heads in administration and leadership positions the group continues to mangle and wither the communities depleted resources. The doctors don't follow up on anything ever they just tell the patients they are fat depressed and sleep poorly and then sign you up for the most lucrative and stress-free (for them) treatment. HMC/HMG should be a case study on how "not for profit" hospital systems are just "not well regulated or scrutinized". I have personally witnessed doctors make huge errors and then have it get swept under the rug for years. The American Healthcare system is bankrupt (morally and financially) and this hospital is about to very publicly demonstrate what that looks like. Don't take my word for it. Ask the nurses here about their contracts. Ask them about what happens when doctors make errors. Look up some of the previous doctors that left and ask any nurses that have been at HMC...
Read moreIf I could give this place a zero I would! Their billing department are incompetent! They sent my account to collections but have been sending my bill to the retirement facility instead of my home address. My name was incorrect and the previous agent stated they billed incorrectly that she will take it up to their supervisor and contact me. Well that was almost two months ago! Prior to that phone call about 3 and a half months ago I offered to pay them and not collections. They said I didn't have a bill. The second time I got a letter from the collections agency again I called Hays Med to pay them again and that's when the lady said she will take it up to the supervisor due to billing error and she will contact me and provide update and contact the collections agency to stop sending those mails. But everytime I call they never have information of my phone calls or conversation. Therefore, their recorded line is hoax! I offered to pay my bill this final time as I didn't want to deal with them any longer. They're incompetent and I feel like they send your account to collections to possibly extort money from their patients due to their incompetence in sending claims through insurance. I would drive the 2 hours and go to Wichita or...
