Black Mountain Recreation Center — Local services in Henderson

The pool is very clean with a water slide for bigger and small kids. The lifeguards are very close and pay attention to the activities of the swimmers. You can also bring your own cooler. I had a medium size one but did see others with bigger size coolers. Best to get there at opening to get a good spot that's in a covered area. Pay attention to some of the covered areas because guest will rent the areas. My family and I got there about 11ish a little after opening and found out it was a 1:30 party at 1:20 after we was comfortable. The staff member oddly only notified my family and didn't address the second family. Once the guest that rented the area was on the scene it was confusion on chairs and tables that's resulted in a semi verbal altercation. Staff should notify guest if they are in a area that is already booked because the second family got frustrated and left the premises and my family moved to a slightly shaded area. Staff members did notify us if we did need more chairs, they will provide some. Or experience at this location was decent we usually go to the other pool but wanted a change of scenery due to my daughter's birthday. We will continue to visit the Whitney Ranch location. On another note interest fees for adults are $5 minors 17 and under are $3. Younger kids are free. The bathrooms are clean and overall upkeep of the area is clean as well. I arrived a Black Mountain Rec Aquatic on Friday June,19th 2020.I was hoping to go for a swim with my niece and nephew. There was a young woman working the booth, she told me I could only visit the pool by appointment only, she told me I couldn't schedule an appointment for that Friday June, 19th nor the following day Saturday June, 20th because both days were booked.The only day that was available was Sunday June 21st between 4-6 pm. She wrote down my information and took my $8 payment. Only to find out that the pool was not even open on Sundays.. I'm not upset about the $8, but I'm more upset about the fact she intentionally lied to me. I was really excited to visit the pool with my niece and nephew. Unfortunately we experienced a very uncomfortable situation at this community center. If there is not already and of course if Henderson budget allows I feel it is imperative the employed individuals within this establishment take training courses. These training course should also include a test and once passed then they can move forward to performing their required responsibilities and take. While this is a community center there should always be a process in which you approach and communicate with the community you serve. At no point should an employee make any individual entering the facility feel unwelcome, uncomfortable or poorly treated.
