Heirloom Apples at Freeman Orchards — Local services in Hendersonville

Best orchard in the area. Discovered them last year and now this will be our yearly orchard trip. Great selection, fresh, tasty. Staff/family are very friendly and helpful. Not too crowded as this is a store/warehouse with no other attractions. We definitely enjoyed many years of family trips to another orchard several miles away because we had young kids who enjoyed picking apples and playing on their various builds for kids, but now that it is just the two of us, this quieter setup with smaller crowds fits the bill. Definitely the best and largest variety in the area...and the fried pies are pretty...

One of my favorite apple houses! They have the most variety of any one around. They have heirloom varieties as well as some they grafted themselves. During the peak of apple season they have over 30 different kinds, each with a thorough description and history. They also sell other produce and goods as well as their amazing homemade pies! Though you don't get to pick them off the tree, you can make a mix and match of all the ones you want. The service is very friendly and willing to give you a sample. This is the place to get apples if you are not looking for playgrounds or corn mazes. It was the perfect experience...lots of varieties, they were all looking very good for showing up at the end of the season. Lastly they will let you try before you buy...fantastic!!!! We tried some we had never had before and ended up leaving with a mixed bushel. Definitely worth the drive from Chattanooga. Now the wifey has plenty to do making apple butter and other apple goodies! This is our new yearly...
