âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸ Great Date Night at Tarheel Lanes!
Just had a great âdate nightâ at Tarheel Lanes! I havenât been bowling in over 5 years, but we had an awesome time.
(By the way, I caught my wife in a terrible picture but she was surprised and happy with getting 9 pins after 2 gutter balls.)
After checking prices in Asheville (which were astronomical!), we looked at Tarheel Lanes in Hendersonville and found it was less than half the price â and worth every penny.
This location is under new ownership, and you can really tell they care. When we arrived, we were greeted by a young lady who was in the middle of another task, but she immediately acknowledged us and said sheâd be right with us. Within just a couple of minutes, she had our shoes ready and got us set up with a lane. She was polite, professional, and proactive in giving clear instructions â a great first impression!
Throughout the evening, I noticed that same young lady stayed busy the entire time â cleaning tables and counters, putting bowling balls back in the racks, and keeping the place looking great. Sheâs an excellent employee and a real asset to the business.
The building itself is older, but theyâve made a lot of updates, and it shows. The lobby, lanes, snack bar, and bathrooms were all very clean, and even the lighting was well-maintained â no burnt-out bulbs, which says a lot about the attention to detail.
The scoring system and displays worked smoothly and were easy to read. There was no smoke smell or that âold buildingâ odor you sometimes get in older alleys. The music was upbeat, family-friendly, and played at just the right volume â fun without being so loud that I had to yell to my wife.
Even the ceiling tiles looked fresh and clean, without the usual water stains you often see in older facilities.
Overall, I was very impressed with our experience and highly recommend Tarheel Lanes for a fun night out at a reasonable price. Weâll...

Cons: old dude at register made us feel very unwelcome. Overcharged us by 12 bucks- didnât feel like arguing. Rather be out the money and just not come back again. Couldnât bring in our water bottle. We were not combative. Took it out to the car, no problem. But they kept bringing it upâŚ.we said itâs fine. Seemed like they were incredibly angry with us for bringing in the water. The vibe felt like we went back in time in the worst way possible. Old music, dirty place. Decor was odd. Shoes had holes and were disgusting. The card reader situation seems fake. He said it is broken. I believe he doesnât want charge backs/to pay fees for card purchases. I assume the card machine is solely for regulars.
My advice if you still wanna go: know what the price is BEFORE you start bowling because he will charge you a random price when you are done. Confirm and say âgames are x amount? So we will play 3 games and itâll be x amount?â Donât bring in water, itâll put you on their bad side. Bowl and get the heck...
