Urban Legend BBQ — Local services in Herrin

Tried a few items on Saturday. We got there around 5:30 and they were out of almost everything. We tried the ribs, pulled pork sandwich, pulled chicken nachos, and brisket sandwich, along with cole slaw and smoked mac and cheese for sides. The ribs were overdone, though they had a good smoky flavor. The pulled pork sandwich was pretty good and had a good portion of meat. The pulled chicken nachos were not that great, there was a generous amount of chicken that tasted fine, but the cheese was cheese sauce out of a can and really unappetizing. It's a restaurant, not a ballpark, use real shredded cheese and fresh ingredients, not canned stuff! The brisket was ok, and the slaw was really good. The mac and cheese was a disappointment, not enough cheese to even cover the macaroni. We had to settle for these choices, as they were out of everything we asked for. Everyone has an off day, and this was the bottom of the barrel remaining food. I will give them another try at some point. The owner is a very friendly guy and had a nice conversation with us while we were waiting...

No functioning restrooms! No place to wash your hands before or after eating bar b q. Ordered brisket basket for $13 plus a $2 tip. The bun had two very thin slices of brisket of which 60% was the fat cap. They do not trim the fat from their brisket and that is served in the sandwich. Horrible. The coleslaw was vinegar based and gross, un edible. The baked beans were heavily sugared. I had hopes for this restaurant after seeing the five star reviews, however was very very disappointed and will never return. I was going to order a pound of brisket to go, however, after seeing all the fat I decided not! In addition, I was told the brisket was $17 a pound. However, on Facebook, it is listed for $12.50 a pound. I think they were price gouging me at...

Let me tell ya something yall..... this place right here has the best BBQ I have ever had.... their loaded fries are amazing.. so are the pork steaks .... but that Brisket cut from the fatty side ummm ummmm ummm... that brisket will have ya growling at people that walk too close to your plate when ur eating just in case they were thinking about asking for a bite.... very friendly people and the atmosphere is almost as good as...
