Raising Roots Farm — Local services in Hickory

It is a hard decision for me to leave this review...

I want to generously give a positive review, but then I also selfishly want all their brisket meat for myself

Smoking a brisket has been a recent goal of mine and after a 5/10 result with a brisket from the big W store, I asked myself if the quality of meat played a role in the less in my less than stellar result

So I picked up 9lb brisket from Raising Roots Farm and after loading up the hopper and starting my "brisket program" on the Yoder, I went away for about 16hours and upon my return... WOW

The brisket from Raising Roots Farm was insanely tender and juicy. When poking the finished brisket with a temperature probe, I honestly thought the inside was hollow as there simply was no resistance

The downside is that you don't get to pet the big fluffy dog that guards the house along the entrance driveway. Another downside is that the brisket is about 90% already trimmed and that my dog barely got any meat scraps from the remaining trimming...

I had the pleasure of meeting Jennifer today at The Hickory Farmers Market. The experience alone was worth the venture. We purchased farm fresh, quality meats and eggs and she invited me and my family to their farm to see the pigs. She shared her enthusiasm and hospitality with my pre teen daughter- which is very important for me to teach my children..she also took time out to introduce us to others! Got there late, around 7:30 on a Friday night and arrived to a couple really great local guys playing. Tyler Hatley and Justin Clyde Williams. Ordered a tasty cider while listening to the tunes. Unfortunately due to the popularity of the 2 playing it had been a busy night and the kitchen was sold out of most everything. Still we ordered from what was left on the menu and the quality and freshness of the food was spot on.
