In terms of peaks to summit I would say this ranks in the "Fairly Easy" category and the reward at the top is worth it! Awesome views of the Uinta Mountains and the Wasatch running perpendicular in the distance. Don't get me wrong it's still an ascent of around 1500ft starting at 10,700ft above sea level so breathing will be more labored and fatigue will set in quicker. That said, my friend and I hiked it on a total whim on our way to do a backpacking trip deeper in the Uintas. Round trip it was apprx 4.1 miles and took about 2 hours at a moderate pace. The trail is easy to follow even once you are above tree line. I would guess most children over 10 years old without any health conditions should be able to complete the hike. It was too early in the season to hike Bald mountain of course, but the view is still awesome And I did find a geocache! I visited on a Saturday and I would estimate over 100 vehicles passed (easily) while I was there and driving towards Kamas. Very busy! Can't wait to visit again I'm 2019! Hopefully I will have a chance to hike and get on the trails away from the road. There are lots of options for hiking, but in early June there's lots of snow too! Even those trails that were mostly clear of snow were very wet and ...
Read moreI wasn't expecting huge things from this hike, for this mountain from the distance doesn't look all that exciting, but it was super interesting. (That means a lot from me for I hike a lot.) The trail was just so interesting all the way up The views of all the lakes going up was neat ( I think there was 20 lakes I counted ) The top was different than I expected and the views from the top were spectacular. I did a 360 path for google maps/Earth/blog of the trail. You can see it by going to Google Earth, search Bald Mountain, click on the little dude, and then click on any blue section you want to...
