I called and asked about whether he could fix my laserdisc player. (it seemed like me may be able to). He told me it would be $35 as a deposit for as estimate. I got down there and he said, "I said $50, right?"
I responded with, "well, no. But $50 is fine." He told me he'd know in 2 weeks. At 2 weeks, he quoted it as $150 so it was clearly totaled for me. Anyway, I picked it up today and it seems about how I left it.
Shame I couldn't get it fixed, but I don't blame him for that. I could report a better result if I got something fixed and didn't get that extra $15 taken from me with still a broken device and apparently the two pieces I gave him that broke off inside weren't near it, so.... anyway.... guess I'll reserve judgement for the next time I need something fixed.
Also, when I got there to pick it up, it was left outside the door (which is fine because he said it would be) but I didn't notice in the collection of electronics sitting outside that one of the TVs was sitting under one of the balcony legs getting rained on. Not sure why it was there, to be honest.... It may just be broken waiting for garbage disposal.
I don't know. Anyway.... I'm leaving a 3 because that whole $15 thing and because I don't have the missing parts that I gave him. Fortunately I took a picture of them before I dropped them off so I...
Read moreGreat Service! I had an opportunity to have Wilwert Electronics repair one of my TV’s a few months back. Tony came out to the house and got the TV running again. While at the house we talked about a lot of older equipment such as vintage tape recorders and other stereo equipment and that they repaired a lot of older gear as well.
Recently my tuner (an old SAE T-101) had problems with delivering a clean signal to the pre-amp. I was a more than a little concerned as the unit is over 30 years old and SAE used a lot of proprietary designs with some replacement parts not being available (SAE went out of business in the 1980’s). Since I was sufficiently happy with their previous work on the TV, I decided to give Wilwert Electronics a call. Tony said to bring it up and they’d have a look at it. I did and Tony was able to find the problem and make the necessary repairs. It turned out that a replaceable power supply was the root cause.
Wilwert Electronics repaired the unit very quickly and the repair charge was more than reasonable. The unit looks great and sounds even better! I would certainly recommend Wilwert Electronics both for their professionalism and their...
Read moreI gave up on my claim check No 15335. Over 5 years ago I dropped off HiFi speakers I thought may have needed a power supply. After several phone calls over a year or so I am assuming that the parts are not available and they have given up. From what I gathered when I dropped them off the place is a mess and I'm sure they are sitting in a back room somewhere collecting dust. I am hesitant to leave 1 star... however, I was never notified that the work was unable to be done. That to me is just irresponsible business practice. I am a small business owner as well, and If I can't do the work, I will be honest and say so. Most people are understanding. I paid my deposit, have the decency to notify me that you have given up, instead of just storing my belongings in your shop for 5 years. I am not that upset, given that I was just hoping my broken speakers could get fixed, I am no longer missing them and he can keep them forever. But, I think its fair to warn a future customer to use discretion before dropping something off that really means something to them, it may never get fixed and you may never...
