Visited for the premiere of the last Indiana Jones movie. This drive-in has been around for 70 years. It is the smallest drive-in I've ever been to, but that wasn't an issue. The movie ticket was $7.00 each for two movies. However, we only stayed for the first one. There were some issues that I felt should be something that needs to be addressed.
They don't want people bringing in outside food and drinks. It's not a problem, really. The problem is the very limited snack bar. They don't have fountain drinks and no ice. Soft drinks are sold in bottles. Candy selection is a choice of several candy bars. No boxed candy like you would find at any other theater. If you're going to restrict outside food, there needs to be a good selection in the snack bar.
Audio for the movie is broadcast over the radio on station 90.1. There are speakers in many of the spaces. We planned on using one of the speakers to avoid having to run the car. The music playing prior to the movie had pretty good volume. When the movie first started playing, there was no sound from the speakers. Some of the people who were sitting outside their cars had to rethink it and make adjustments to hear the movie. After about 30 minutes into the movie, we found the speakers were working enough to use for the rest of the movie.
The last thing that was a little distracting was the neighbors across from the drive-in decided to start the 4th of July early and set off fireworks during the movie. 🙄
I love historic places like this, but I would like to see things like these fixed. Unfortunately, this costs money that many owners do not have to make upgrades. Some things could be fixed, though. Especially the candy selection and possibly getting fountain drinks.
It's still worth a visit, but you may want to prepare yourself so you aren't surprised or disappointed. Also, figure out how to turn off your automatic headlights so you don't...
Read moreWe are moving to southern W.V. soon and I can't believe there are still drive-in movies. Gosh, I haven't been to one since I was a kid. Most places just did away with them altogether...I haven't seen one in years except a few that were closed for good and abandoned. So, thank goodness for good old W.V. to provide good quality family entertainment. Sitting on cars should absolutely NOT be allowed. That's a good way to start a fight with stubborn people who are asked to move, to get back in their cars and don't want to. Somebody could get hurt. I would suggest that the owners, managers stop this from happening before somebody gets hurt or worse. WHY wait for something tragic to happen when you can nip it in the bug before it does...thanks! Look forward to going to the movie and eating some popcorn and drinking a...
Read moreWent there for the first time the other day. It's one of the only 2 drive in theaters in the whole area that I'm aware of so that's nice. I don't know who was picking the music choices before the movie started but literally every song that played was bad. And several different styles that I normally like (punk, oldies) played but somehow every single song that played managed to be horrible. It was amazing. Finally the movie started. Sound quality isn't that great but it's a drive in so I feel like that's to be expected. Picture quality is pretty good. I got a small pizza from the concession stand that was pretty good. If you come down the road the direction we came you can't see the sign for the place so you might miss it. I wish they would fix that. Overall a good experience. I'll definitely go...
