2019 Update- WOW has this place gone downhill quick! On 2016/2017 I had played this course a number of times and loved it as seen in my review below. Last summer however it had gotten noticeably worse. I overlooked it, thought maybe it was people involved, weather, whatever, I have them the benefit if a doubt. Fast forward to spring 2019 and nothing's improved. My last round was June 2nd 2019 until this past weekend Sept 28th. This weekend... HORRIBLE! Let's start with the range. Hitting range balls here could be seen as more disastrous than good. Balls are dirty as all heck, half of them are broken, cracked, split open, ect. Then the starting times were a mess. Stuff happens... I'd like to overlook this but with everything else, worth noting. The rest is just pure neglect! The course is in TERRIBLE shape. Greens have bare spots with exposes dirt everywhere and tons of weeds in them and let's just say there are weeds everywhere, in the fairways, in the rough, everywhere. The tee box's haven't seen a mower in weeks if not months. The grass and weeds are so tall on the tee box's that in most cases, I could tee the ball up high enough to escape them. It's a public course so I don't have all that high of expectations for the bunkers although the condition of those is far below what's acceptable as well. May as well drop if you end up in one because they're far too wet (when we haven't had rain in weeks), hard packed, and full of weeds to hit out of. 3-4 holes in and my buddy and I as well as the 2 fella's we were playing with were regretting our decision to play this course again.
It's pretty simple, this course is being neglected. PERIOD. I'm not sure I'd pay $15 to play this course anytime soon. I used to enjoy this place but now, the only good comments I can make is that I still enjoy the layout.
2017- Great course! I loved the layout, good greens, good tee box's and the value was great! ($26 with a cart for 18 on Groupon.) The place needs help though. Although we had tee times they said they were on a delay and would call people as they were up. While sitting in the patio, that never happened. We ended up asking when we could go out only to be told "right now, we have one cart left."
From here, we ended up catching the 4-some ahead of us very quickly. No ranger to monitor the pace of play. These guys where everywhere but the fairway/green and wouldn't allow us to pass through. The cart girl came around once in an entire 5 hour round (slow play in front of us again) and although very friendly, once a round does not quench a guys thirst in early August.
All in all, very nice course, good value, but needs some support on the customer service front. I'll update my post after I play here again if...
Read moreI will never ever play this course again, but if you want to be harassed by the "ranger" give it a whirl. I had 4some that had a 09:20 tee time, and we started on time. When we started playing, the front 9 was cart path only, so naturally it takes a bit longer to walk to your ball, hit, etc... We competed our front 9 is 2.5 hours, just a bit slower than the USGA recommended 2.25 hours, and this recommended pace of play is for a 3some - not a 4some like us. On the back 9, the "ranger" came around on hole 10 and said we could drive on the fairway, just avoid water and mud. On Hole 11, the "ranger" came and harassed us about playing, "too slow, because the 3some behind us was pi$$ed". Well, by playing best ball off the tee, and 3 of the 4some shooting in the low 40's on the front 9, this didn't make sense. The "ranger" proceeded to follow and "supervise" every shot we took from Hole 11 to Hole 17 - prodding us to play faster (eventhough we were having to wait for the group in front of us to get off the green, at times). We are all experienced golfers, and there was no horseplay or unnecessary delays on our part, to warrant the "supervison". We completed our round in just under 5 hours, with 9 of the holes being cart path only. If this is how they treat players on their course, shame on them, and me and my crew will never be back to play your course - which wasn't anything special anyways. Play at...
Read moreReally enjoyable round today. Massive improvements to the course since I was here 2 months ago. If you read any other reviews from more than a month prior to this one, disregard them as they are very outdated.
Bunkers were completely redone with beautiful, white sand. You can also see where sod has been laid where the Georgia clay had started to come through.
Tee boxes were in good shape, and most of the greens were solid. Love how receptive they are to approach shots!
There were 1 or 2 greens that looked to be suffering from a fungus and a few trees need to be trimmed back (especially hole 10), but by and large it is in good shape and the owner appears to have the initiative to make it even better. Which is great because it one of the most unique public courses around metro-Atlanta imo. So many holes really make you think twice about how you want to play them.
Random notes: pretty decent grass driving range + putting/chipping area nice clubhouse with drink and food options cart girl was nice and had plenty of options the turn is actually after hole 10, so keep that in mind! pace of play was a tad slow, but my foursome still finished in under 5 hours. It was also a Saturday morning tee time with picture perfect weather.
Definitely worth the price of admission and when I'm back around Hiram, I'll definitely be booking a tee time. Keep up...
