My 5 month old puppy came home from getting neutered and was peeing blood. I called the vet and they said drop him off, they would check him. They called later, said it sounded like an UTI, but couldn't get any urine, so they were going home and would call in the morning. It was 11:30 the next day, no word from the vet, so I called them. They said they could not get an urine sample yet, but they would call back. At 1:00, after not receiving a return phone call, I called the vet again. They said they finally got an urine sample but had not had time to test it yet. I said forget it, I'm coming to get my puppy. When I went in to pick up my puppy the vet did not even talk to me. She sent out a receptionist. I arrived at a different vet. My puppy had a temperature of 104 and was still peeing blood. The new vet immediatly gave him a very strong antibiotic shot, ask if he could keep him overnite for testing. The Hoisington vet finally called me back at 5:30 and said that my dog had blood in his urine (big surprise), it could be serious (another big surprise), and I should bring him back to them(no way), or take him to another vet (which I had already done). This was when I learned that Dr. Mitchell had not been the one who operated on my dog or was treating him. The vet who now had my puppy called me at 9:00 am. He told me that the puppy's temperture was normal this morning, they had gotten an urine sample, and would like to keep him until 4:00. This vet gave him another shot of strong antibotics before I arrived and sent him home with antibotics. Why would Hoisington Veterinary Hospital have kept my puppy, who had a temperature of 104, for over 18 hous with out...
Read moreI cannot say good enough things about Hoisington Veterinary Hospital. We were traveling with a 2 month old puppy we got the day before from Colorado to Illinois. Our puppy was having a very hard time and out of the 8 vets in the area I called to have him looked at Hoisington was only one who called back promptly and was eager to help our puppy.
After arriving, Erick and Dr. Lyndsey went out of their way to make us and the puppy feel comfortable and get our puppy taken care of. You could tell they genuinely cared about Bobby and were going to do everything possible for him.
They were more than willing to accommodate us and give us different options for care since we were in the middle of a cross country area and knew no one in the area.
Erick was incredible over night and the next morning texting and calling us with updates for our little guy. Also making sure our puppy had a nice stuffed animal friend to spend the night with! Even after we picked up our little pup to continue the trip when we was feeling better, Erick was more than helpful answering our question we had about the medicine we had to administer.
I feel so fortunate to have found these incredible people who were able to help our puppy get back on the up and up!
Thank...
Read moreWe moved to Hoisington in 2022 and started bringing our beloved dog to Hoisington Veterinary Hospital soon after. We brought him in several times as he aged and when the time came for him to cross that Rainbow Bridge they gave him and our family the most peaceful and memorable experience I could have ever hoped for. They gave us treats to give him while we said goodbye. They thoughtfully left a box of tissues and a call button to push when we wanted to let staff know we were ready for each step of the process to proceed. It was such a calm end for this very deserving boy who stayed by my side and cared for me his whole life. He smiled until he fell asleep. They had several things we could choose to have them do so that we’d have something special to remember him by, at various price points that were very affordable. They also sent a very sweet sympathy card signed by the whole vet and office staff. I will always be grateful to them for what they did for my precious little buddy. And when we eventually decide to get a new dog you can rest assured Hoisington Veterinary Hospital will be our partners in caring for our new pet’s...
