Took my car here on a recommendation that they were fairly priced and honest. I will say that they did go over my car and told me what was wrong for 50ish dollars. Most places would do this free but I wanted a good place to fix it. I had already done most of the work myself, however, there was still problems and they were able to pinpoint them for me. Now to the bad. They wanted almost 500 dollars for to replace a brake hose on the passenger side and a tiny copper washer on the drivers side with the possibility of replacing a caliper (which was brand new already and under a warranty from advance so didn’t cost me anything to replace myself) that’s a total of 30-90 dollars tops in car parts and brake fluid and takes less then 1 hour to put on. Even with the 50 dollar inspection that’s over 350 in labor for one hour. And you can’t argue that they couldn’t do it less then an hour because they have air tools and a lift and I got it done in my driveway with good old elbow grease in less then 1 hour and a wrench.
Now for the crooked part of their shop. The inspection said that I needed to replace transmission fluid, power steering fluid, air filter, and a cabin filter as well as some bulbs. They wanted 899 to do all the work including the brakes. I called 2 different places to see what the price was to change these fluids, one was 150 for both and the other was 200. Air and cabin filter cost me 30 dollars at advance and the bulbs turned out not needing replaced. So 120 plus 200 is 320.. all of this can be done in an hour maybe 2 tops and the places that flush fluids don’t charge by the hour they charge for the flush. So 899-320 is $579.00 In labor. For less then 2 hours of work and more then likely less then one hour. So I’ve already done everything minus the trans and power steering because another shop said I didn’t need it done and they also said my air filter was brand new so they lied about that. Cabin filter was disgusting tho and trans could use changing but with it never being changed it could mess up the transmission so they advised against it.
So yeah take your car here if you want to pay them 500 an hour for their...
Read more3 days before the Thanksgiving holiday, My wife and I were traveling through VA to a funeral in MD, when our Honda CRV suddenly lost power. Through a family friend, we were recommended to reach out to Fincastle Automotive as a shop that does good work. I called them and spoke with Randal who said they did in fact work on Hondas. While speaking to Randal, one of their tow truck drivers walked in and said he could come pick us up immediately. In about 20 mins the tow truck pulled up and loaded us up and hauled us back to their shop. Randal informed us that they had a loaner car (at no additional cost) that we could use to continue on to our destination and drop it off when we picked our car up on our return trip home. The next day, Tuesday, I got a text with a link that took me to a web page with pics and recommendation on everything wrong with the car! I was able to tell them what I wanted done and they quoted a price (via their text system) on the work I ask them to perform. Wed I received a text saying the work was completed and with a detailed invoice. I was able to click and pay with a credit card from that text. Thursday afternoon (Thanksgiving day) , we were able to drop off the loaner car and pick our up and continue our trip home! The paid receipt included a roadside tow coupon... If the car lets me sit beside the road any time within the next 6 months, I am entitled to a free tow! I would rate this shop with 10 stars if I could!
The entire process was THE ABSOLUTE BEST car repair experience I have had in my life! It was a first rate professional, respectful and efficient process from start to finish at a very reasonable price, at a time when most shops would have said they can't help us due to the holiday! Thanks to the entire shop...
Read moreA friend insisted I have Fincastle Automotive look at my 2012 Ford F-150 truck after two other facilities had 1) misdiagnosed, and 2) quoted a price that turned out to be almost $2k over what I paid at Fincastle Automotive for the same work. I had been experiencing a coolant leak with erratic gauge response and engine light warning of overheating. Finally I received an appropriate diagnosis that turned out to be the left turbo seal, supply and return hoses leaking. Since this seems to be a challenge for this Ford product, I requested they change out those parts on the leaking left turbo and the right one. (If I'm gonna be charged for the labor to get to the back of the engine behind the firewall, I better get them both done!) They perform a complete check on the vehicle almost like an inspection, so that gave me a fresh set of eyeballs looking for any developing issues. I had them change out the transmission fluid since it was time and it was in their shop. Bottom line: I was without my vehicle for just a day under a week (parts are slow at coming in nowadays due to supply issues), but I was given a loaner Altima for FREE to use as needed during the time my truck was in their shop. Talk about convenience and true care for their customer's comfort. I picked up my truck today and couldn't be happier. They took out the truck for a run on the interstate after the repair, and rechecked to be sure no leaks. Wow! I'm impressed with their thoroughness. It's what I would have hoped for. All the best is what you should expect when you bring your vehicle to Fincastle Automotive. I will move all my regularly scheduled maintenance to their care. Thank you....it's not enough, but the best...
