Late May, experience the never ending dusk in middle of night is by far the coolest thing ever.
By all means, never try to drive and photograph at same time, all roads are too narrow winding two lane only. Mount video camera for clear wide angle view, and let it run till you find a spot to pull over, which are rare.

The Homer Spit is a great place to pitch a tent or park an RV and spend the next few days on the Homer Spit. You can get an early morning fishing charter trip and be back at lunch or by dinner. Hit the Salty Dawg Saloon for a victory drink with friends.
If you want to relax and do very little you could paddle along the Homer Spit or get a water taxi and paddle around islands South of the Homer Spit. Maybe you rather shop or eat? The Homer Spit has plenty of small local stores and restaurants that should make your day.
