The beach itself is okay, but it is not safe place for tourists. We left our car by the curb, and we came back, our rear view mirror was completely damaged! We checked the vehicle, nothing else was harmed, so someone did it on purpose. We rent the smart car, so it is obvious that we are tourists. It is very quiet area, almost no people around, but someone on purpose decided to ā€˜treat’ tourist that hospitable way. That’s our first time to Hawaii and it’s very disappointing to meet such experience. Don’t recommend to visit this place for the sake of your safety!

Em who hasn’t made great memories here ? Since kindergarten to highschool and beyond Hunakai has been a part of south shore life . Easy parking , beautiful views and dog friendly beaches . Never mind the occasional stabbings … that was so random . Anyhow i love this beach with all the different accesses to walk down from kahala ave and then multi million dollar eyesore mega mansions that create huge amounts of concrete rubble on the beaches Yea It use to be good eh ? What happened …

Great beach, popular with the local residents. Nice long stretch, short strip of same between the ocean and the bushes. East facing, perfect for morning and early afternoon sun. Very shallow water, sand turns to reef fairly quickly, doesn't get deeper than knees in most places well into the ocean. Best visited on weekdays as you will topically have it to yourself!
