I prefer to support local business and local farmers when possible, and this place makes that very easy to do. The haul this year was very good, there are a large number of very healthy and bountiful cherry trees within short walking distance, ladders setup to reach the highest branches, and there is a pen with pigs and goats you can see and pet.
The process of checking out and purchasing cherries is effective, there are buckets supplied if you do not have to our own, and owners/family on the farm can point you towards the best trees to get you quickly picking large amounts of cherries. This is a very welcoming place, and very worth the trip.
The only reason this review isn't a 5 star is because of the seasonal nature of a you-pick fram, which is not any fault of the owners, its the nature of mother nature. If you arrive during the peak/prime days, it is easily a 5 star experience. If you do not go on the first days open and during the peak/prime days, your experience will vary. A lot of people know about this place and for an obvious and good reason a lot of people come here. As a result, the trees can get picked clean very fast, as I've found out in years past...
ย ย ย Read moreLovely farm and staff but the prices are absolutely outrageous. When I asked why they said โbecause we are organicโ and โto make up for people eating so manyโ. We picked approx 4 1/2 buckets and it cost $145. The cherries were abundant and sweet but not the most delicious cherries. Elsewhere I got a smaller bucket (half the size of the ones here for $5-10) and I got to keep the bucket, or a little cheaper if I brought my own. Plus they donโt have any wagons to borrow, they will hold your buckets behind the counter. They have a lovely area with a petting zoo that kids can actually go inside (not just through the fence). I had hoped to go back for peaches or apples but I will find another location with more...
ย ย ย Read moreWe had such a great time there today! There were lots of cherries to pick, with big, sturdy ladders to reach them up high and the kids had a great time picking them. They were super sweet and I love that they were organic. We also thoroughly enjoyed the animals. There were baby pigs and a baby goat that were adorable. The setting was beautiful-with a great view of Mt. Adams in one direction and Mt. Hood in the other. I wish we would have had more time to spend there (we didn't get there until 3:30) and enjoy the beautiful setting and weather. Next time we will take a lunch and plan to spend more time. We will...
