College Settlement — Local services in Horsham Township

I sent my daughter here last summer for an overnight session. This was more affordable than her usual camp and i figured we could change it up for a bit. She has attended a Girl Scout Camp every summer for the last 5 years. I didn’t think this camp would be significantly different from her previous experiences but wow. The kids are wild and a little mean. The counselors didn’t seem very engaged and didn’t prioritize the kids comfort or inclusion. The meals!? Unbelievable. Lots of pasta with glasses of water for dinner, dry sandwiches, low meat/protein content, cereal and dry breads for breakfast, and oatmeal cream pies for dessert (what in the trans fat?). Also, no second servings. The activities weren’t well planned and the equipment was worn down. Somebody also stole my kid’s sleeping bag and her creative putty. I understand this place serves children with limited resources but yikes. This is the only time my daughter has ever called me requesting to leave early from camp. She definitely will not be back. Gone downhill. My son has always loved this overnight camp. Last year was a great summer for him. This year, horrible. Due to the pricing, a lot of his friends couldn't come back. My son has really loved some of the counselors over the years. None were there this summer which was a major bummer. According to my son, the counselors this year were mean, cursed a lot, and made him feel awful for wanting/needing to call home. This summer my son came home sad and suppressed. I don't know what's going on there, but it's definitely not what it used to be. He won't be returning next summer. I don't recommend sending kids to this camp. Maybe this camp should only be...

This is an awesome camp!! My daughter had the best time there this summer and can’t wait to go back. The counselors were so nice and fun to be around, and the other kids were very friendly. She got to go biking and boating, and interacted with a lot of different animals. The goats were her favorite! She loved swimming, and I loved that they had a bunch of lifeguards to make sure everyone is safe at all times. My daughter had nothing but wonderful things to say about her camp experience.
