Not real excited about this place as far as digging tailings goes. It's not kept tilled up in any way so it's pretty hard packed and you will do some serious work to get a hole going most of the time. I have found some decent crystals there and it's usually pretty relaxed and not crowded at all. Edit: I went back today with a little coercing from my other half. I was pleasantly surprised with fresh tailings all over the place and at least 4 more loads were dropped while I was there. I found some great clear chunks of quartz and a few nice baseball size clusters. Definitely the best finds I've ever had here. Also the man dumping the tailings stopped to give us some awesome clusters straight from the mining area. 2nd edit 8-21-25 I've really changed my mind about this place. Since my initial review things have really changed here and I now visit regularly. I've found some of my best clusters here and the digging is much easier now. They have done a lot of work on the tailings pile. Digging up hardened and compacted areas along with adding new piles. If you're a beginner and want to try this hobby out to see if you like it then this place is your best starting point.

0/10 do not recommend. Their store front has a beautiful selection and is located at the turn going to Ron Coleman’s. However, their mine is located 11 miles away. They don’t warn you that you definitely can’t make it up the road to their mine if you are in a car. Once you get there, the mine consists of a small pile of dirt with a couple of trailers parked in front. All things aside we still wanted to give this place a chance, yet their dog is running around unconfined attempting to get into our car as we were trying to get out. We couldn’t even get my son out of the car because the dog would not stop jumping on my car. The woman that seemed to live at the mine did absolutely nothing to get the dogs attention. Needless to say one side of my car is not scratched up and we did not dig in their dirt pile.

A little off the beaten path and the road a little rough, but you will find crystals! The caretaker and his pup were friendly . Had a good time even poring down rain and 40f. Would love to see the piles turned over, but still plenty of great finds to be had . After reading some other reviews, i wanted to add some about customer service. The staff at the shop weren't overly friendly, but I wouldn't call them rude . As for the caretaker (Mick) he looks a little rough around the edges, but if you give him a chance, he is as nice as could be . We chatted about his pup hunting fishing the weather and top soil. He's just a good old boy trying to make a living. Don't miss out on a chance to find some great quality crystals. 👌
