Disheartening Experience with Funeral Services
I recently had the unfortunate experience of utilizing Paradise Funeral Home for my mother's funeral service, and I must express my deep disappointment with the overall quality of the arrangements and presentation.
The initial impressions were jarring, as my mother's makeup was noticeably smeared, and her hair, which had been meticulously styled the day before, looked disheveled and far from how it had been intended. This stark contrast between her appearance on the day of the funeral and the day before was distressing.
Additionally, the physical condition of my mother's body was not up to the standard one would expect for a funeral service. Her body appeared sunken in the middle, which was a distressing sight for my family and friends who attended the service to pay their respects.
In what added to my dissatisfaction, someone within the funeral home had taken flowers that were meant for the family, removed the accompanying card, and used them for the sign-in book display. This careless act felt disrespectful and showed a lack of consideration for the grieving family's feelings during such a difficult time.
Overall, witnessing the state of my mother's appearance and the mishandling of the flowers was deeply disheartening and compounded the grief my family and I were already experiencing. The importance of a funeral service lies in providing a dignified and respectful farewell to our loved ones, and unfortunately, this experience fell far short of those expectations.
In conclusion, my experience with Paradise Funeral Home was marred by subpar attention to detail, a lack of respect for our family's emotional state, and a general lack of professionalism. I sincerely hope that my feedback will serve as an opportunity for improvement and reflection for the funeral home and that others will be spared from enduring such a disappointing and distressing experience in the future. **Issue was not resolved as...
   Read moreThis is a beautiful cemetery. 1st class. However; they should review their internal processes to improve their customer's experience. Not sure if they have a formal quality control process. I was never contacted by this organization regarding my recent and on-going experiences. Examples include;
When my wife and I came for my mother's burial, we had difficulty finding the gravesite. When we asked for someone to show us the way, we kept getting push back. Finally, someone lead us there using a golf cart. They weren't very friendly.
My mother was buried in mid-September. I was informed that I had been charged twice for a monument and that they would refund me the overpayment. I was told (at the time) that they would credit the amount back to my credit card. After a couple of weeks, I called and asked for a status. I was told it is being worked on. After a couple more weeks, I was told they were going to mail it instead. I'm still waiting for the reimbursement AND the monument to be installed. Its December 17, 2021 as of this writing.
I believe a well designed quality management system, staffed with competent people and leaders, would have nipped this in the bud. Their internal processes and oversight would continue to redesign and remove obstacles that result in customer dissatisfaction.

After posting my review, I was contacted by a manager who scheduled a call to discuss my concerns. He was a good listener, apologized for what had happened and assured me that he would take appropriate action to resolve any outstanding issues. Well he did just that! I received my refund in the mail a few days later. Although I am still waiting to have my mother's headstone put on her grave site, his explanation of why this haven't yet happened was acceptable. Seems it is a supply chain issue. Wish I had be told this at the time of...
   Read moreI recently worked with the team at Paradise Funeral Home & Cemetery North in Houston due to the death of my husband. I will share the pros and cons. First, the pros: the day of my husband's funeral went smoothly, thanks to the ladies who were working on that Saturday. I wish I remembered their names, but I was too emotional to remember. But I will say that they were warm, compassionate, considerate, and were so kind. They made sure that everything went smoothly for the service. I truly wish to thank all of the staff who worked that day. Also, the limousine driver's were wonderful and very professional. A thank you to them as well. The cons: my funeral director, Mr. Nelson, was not at the funeral. I thought he should have been present. I had to find out from another staff member that he was on vacation. He did not even tell me himself that he would be on vacation and not present at my husband's funeral. Also, during the week or so leading up to the funeral, he was very slow to answer emails and return phone calls. Also, the funeral home provided a minister for the service, Reverend Gray. He did an excellent job, but I have to "ding" him for changing the requested scripture reading. Our son had chosen a passage from Psalm which was printed in the program, and Mr. Gray decided to read from John instead and did not even bother to let us know he was going to change this from our wishes. I would have provided 5 stars, but due to the poor communication from Mr. Nelson and the Reverend changing the scripture without asking the family, I have to give...
