I also have called a few times a week for the past several weeks and no answer, even drove by one day thinking maybe the phone number changed but they were definitely closed. I live on Golfcrest which has been open, never closed for the covid. I figured sooner or later I would see some of the Pasadena guys but never did. I believe Golfcrest had a deal which they called be a member for a day which allowed people from other areas to come and play. Enjoy Pasadena and can't wait for it to open, should be in great shape, still wonder why they cut down that tree on 7!
Update: On about Monday July the 13th, their website said they would open July 15th, the next day, Tues I checked again and there was another update that said they will remain closed! I guess it's the covid and improvements. I would be surprised if it was just covid because the course I live on has never closed for the pandemic and every other course I check on is also open, Clear Creek I believe was closed for a short time but has been open for play at least the past month if not longer. I enjoy Pasadena Municipal and can't wait for it to open, they're a bunch of nice guys over there!
I would expect the course to open fairly soon, at least I hope so! Every other course that I've checked with around the greater Houston area is open. Played Clear Creek a few days ago, play a few holes on Golfcrest nearly every night and watch the course being played all day, every day. Sad to see this course closed for so long! On the positive side the course should be in great shape when it opens back up. Personally I've always thought the course was in good shape considering it to be a public course. I wouldn't expect it to be an Augusta National, it's a public course that gets played a lot by a different range of golfers, some quite good and some are just hackers, it...
Read moreThey work really hard to keep this course nice, and the staff is great. You will run into many nice people, genuine salt of the earth types here, but there is a large contingent of douchebags who believe (in my opinion), that this course is somehow their country club. I will give a rule of life to these misguided individuals, if I or somebody else has not addressed you while in the clubhouse, keep your mouth shut. When I am talking to the staff I don't care what comes out of your pie hole, keep it to yourself. The only person that is going to tell me that it's "cart path only" will be somebody from the staff. It's Pasadena, it's a municipal golf course, it is what it is. The only reason I bother with this course is because it's right next door to where I work and is a great place to stop and have a game of golf before going home, otherwise, I tend to go to courses that have people with a little bit better etiquette, wear proper golf attire, and don't act...
Read moreCourse finally re-opened on 8/24/20 after being shut down for months due to COVID. The course looked great. The fairways were a little thin, which let the ball run out quite a bit. The greens looked fantastic, however, they are still the slowest, smoothest greens i've played. They've taken a bunch of trees and added a water feature on 18 green which makes the finishing hole look much better than it did prior to the shutdown. The best thing about the course is the value. Can't beat it for the price you pay! The worst things about the course are: 1. All the greens are basically the same..slow turtle back greens that slope slightly from back to front, and 2. the routing has to be the worse I've seen. Some of the holes have very long gaps in between them. I was hoping they'd re-route the course to make more sense during the shutdown, but...
